Title: Deel AT 102 W worth picking up?
Post by: christophed on Sat, 10 December 2011, 18:17:29
Would you recommend picking up this keyboard (Alps i read in the wiki)?

ht tp://www.2dehands.be/computer-game-consoles/ computer-onderdelen/toetsenborden/toetsenbord-106840254.html?list_cat=toetsenborden&start=123 (url broken up with spaces since I'm new around here and can't post them).

I wouldn't pick it up if it's only for its collecting or memoribilia value, should be a decent board by itself.

It is quite cheap (10$) and a drive of about 20 kms for me.

really depends on condition.  I used an AT101 for years and years and thought it was OK, but when I picked up a used one to try the switches were noticeably frictiony, and the keycaps were... less than elegant.  But if it is cheap and in good condition it is worth picking up to try, some people prefer alps switches to cherry MX, you might be one of them.

It looks quite clean in the single picture that accompanies the ad:

Thanks for the advice, I will probably contact the seller ;-)

I have had several 101s but never a 102, maybe that is the UK version.

A good one is great, a bad one is bad.

But you will never know until after you have typed on it for a while.

Not the answer that you wanted.

If you don't have any other mechanicals then this is worth picking up :)
