Title: Broken Filco Ideas?
Post by: Ekaros on Mon, 12 December 2011, 13:33:47
My Filco Majestouch stopped working. It doesn't work either in PS/2 or USB, when I connect it via PS/2 the lock lights light up and down, but it doesn't register anything or the locks work after connecting.

Any ideas?

It's bit over a year old now and I haven't poured anything in it...

Tested on both USB and PS/2 on two different computers, PS/2 computer which it stopped working still works with my old MS Internet Keyboard...

PS. I need to bring some decent board here too...

Phantom!

Me, I'd see if I could repair it with an ohmmeter and some solder (and maybe some switches?) but clearly the best idea is to use the case for a phantom.

Edit: if it's not a tenkeyless, I'd add a tenkey in there as well. you might be able to reuse the old board for this, depending on the width of the copper traces, etc.

The lock lights up means there is still good physical circuit connection but not in logical order. Perhaps the cable from usb to the board has been damaged.

Full sized one. Not sure about how long warranty Keyboardco offers...

I have to find multimeter.

Anyone have idea if it's possible to replace Filco's controller with teensy?

Yes it is... at least with the 87key.  The full size might require the teensy++ for more IO pins.

Otherwise, I'll have my AIKONs for sale soon. That would allow you to remap it and make a Fn layer etc.

Hmm, yep I likely have to go with some new controller. If I can't source an other Filco one... Have to find out first if it's not the cable.

Tested with multimeter, the cable connects all the pins...

I would likely get teensy fastest, still not sure which one is easisest for noob...

This is very weird, once again it does work. Might be the cable. Have to test it in place when it stops once again.
