not for yourself... for others.
my nephew just complained to me about his 10 year old wireless keyboard, so i'm thinking of giving him my modded ABS M1 (white alps). Sure i'd buy him something, but he doesn't know anything and that ABS M1 is a frigging super tank of a keyboard. Course all my other boards are ergo, except for a few model m's, but no teenager wants a super old keyboard i'm guessing. (i'll give him a 5minute education on mech boards when i give it to him, he's 19 so like he could prolly understand).
anyone else gifting a mech board?
-
yes to myself ;-)

My gf would smack me down with it if i'd give her one
Ps: add some boob keys and he'll be happy^^

I'm buying myself one. And my brother is also getting himself one. I'm buying him a set of blank keys as a little extra for it though.

Probably going to be getting my mom a DAS. She can't understand technology to save her life, but she type's up so many letters and emails, I think she will really enjoy a nice new keyboard (she is using the wireless mac keyboard right now, then before this a saitek which was the ****tiest thing I have ever typed on.)

I'm giving one to my parents. I can't stand using the Gateway keyboard that came with a computer they bought 12 years ago...

Just bought an alpsulator...currently debating whether to keep it or give it as a gift...

I bought a keyboard as a present, but it was not mechanical. Cheap and wireless were the requirements. I went with this:

For less than $30, my GF can break a few more of these.

oh i also did buy a htpc keyboard remote, i posted this deal a week ago, a lenovo one that looks kinda ugly but performs so great. the integrated mouse works nice, and the scroll is good, it's also a matrix board lol. Anyway for some reason my sister goes online with her ps3, so i'll give her my keyboard and buy another for myself after the holidays.

Did this last year. Got the wife and Roswill and brother a Model M. Not sure the M ever gets used, but my wife likes the cherry blues for home.
-
My wife, sort of. She finally okayed me to buy a NiB one even though she openly admits she doesn't know why i care about expensive keyboards.
-
I love my M, so I'm sure that he'd reluctant at first to get it, but I love mine. (I'm 15 at the moment)

Thought so. Don't visit the Ripster subforum. A bit mature for you.
Nonsense! The young ones need to learn about the internet to keep them from making mistakes in the future!

Yeah, I bought Mum a 104-key Leopold with MX Browns. She spends all day typing and doing data entry at work (she runs the office for my folk's business) and the beat-up Lenovo keyboard at her computer is so worn out that typing is like trying to press dimples into a sheet of cardboard. I can't imagine how much her hands kill at the end of a day. She's always been reasonably interested in my keyboards, if at first only to understand why I dumped so much money on one, and said she liked the MX Browns on my Filco, but would never buy one for herself, so I got one for her. I'm thinking that MX Browns could actually be a little light for her given what she's used to, so if she doesn't like them I'll try and find her a board with Clears and pocket the Leopold myself, or pass it on to a friend.
Also, buying myself a DK9008S when MechKeyboards gets new stock in.
