it can be fun to use it as pointing device, but FUN is it. The efficiency of current implementation is pretty bad.

kinect is great, my mom and dad can use it, however it's not a real "hardcore" gaming device, the controls are too lossy. I mean for people who have grown up on tight controls like mario bros lol, the kinect is horrible compared to that.

Those talk always sound great. But can't really judge until they got some sort of demo. The cool factor is def. there. The efficiency of maneuvering through the UI is to be evaluated. Think typing on a actual keyboard vs a touch virtual keyboard.

I've seen a talk on that the speaker showed some open-source implementations of "Minority Report"-like virtual menus, recognizing gestures etc. That's what I meant.
Interesting. Have you got any web links?

I dunno if such interfaces would be any better in the long run than what we already have. Sign-language interpreters also suffer from RSI.

i think limited implementation of the kinect would be cool and more useful, such as just sit back and reading a webpage, just swipe left for next page. Otherwise to me the kinect ain't all that useful or cool and i have both dance games and sports, while the newest dashboard has made it more accurate, it still lacks fine control and lagl.
