Title: Realforce 87U Black Variable Weight Tenkeyless Keyboard SE1700
Post by: litster on Mon, 02 January 2012, 13:20:48
I have a Realforce 87U variable weight tenkeyless keyboard SE1700 for sale.  I bought it in August to use with my yellow topre keycaps.  Therefore the original keycaps are brand new.  The keyboard was in rotation among 8 or so other keyboards, so it was only used infrequently.  It comes with a topre keypuller, lavender WASD keys, and swappable Ctrl and Capslock keycaps, all are still sealed in their original plastic bags, never used.

$310 shipped CONUS.

EDIT: Pictures added.  Also it is currently sold out on elitekeyboards.com.

I bought a 45g 87UB and let my kid use it with the yellow keys.  I still have a 45g 87UW and a variable Anniversary Edition 87U.  And recently I am typing on the the Phantom prototype :-)

Good luck with your sale! What type of switches does you Phantom have?

I put in some brown springs and stems from an old Cherry POS keyboard.  Since those are PCB-mounted switches, I put them into plate-mounted switch bottoms from old an Wyse terminal keyboard.  This Phantom really is a Frankenstein!

Free bump!

What's a ducky keychain and why is this keyboard so expensive? No offense, just a newbie.

It is a cherry switch on a keychain.
Topre keyboards are high quality capacitive rubber domed keyboards.

Why is it more expensive than this new one?

Are there big differences between the models that I overlooked?

This is a little bit of a long shot, but if this is still available by the end of January (when I get paid again), I might want it. The one main question I have is how do topre switches feel in comparison to MX Blues? do they feel more tactile or linear?

Like the complete opposite of blues. More like reds, so linear.

Sure.  I can wait, if I don't get other offers.  Topre really is nice to type on.  I have 3 other 87U keyboards.

I've been staring at this thread all day, like a little kid in front of a store window a week before Christmas. So if it's still around, I'm taking it, and then getting yelled at by everyone who knows my money situation, and the fact that I've already spent $400+ on keyboards.
