Title: Frame for 104 Filco

I tried to use black krylon fusion on the frame of my white filco, and I wasn't a huge fan of the result. I want to buy a frame to use instead. If anyone has one laying around, I want to buy it from you.


EDIT: No care about the color, I just want something that looks newish. Will take a filco, rosewill, or abs m1 case. (someone more knowledgeable than myself let me know if one of those cases won't fit my mj2)

It doesn't *look* that awful, but it doesn't feel great, and it peeled where the feet meet bottom of the frame. And actually, right now the top is sitting outside drying.

i tried to be as careful as i could be, but probably didn't do it right. what would have been "right?"

wash it, sand it, prime coat, base coat, lacquer - it should give a really durable and uniform finish - im also thinking about painting one of my frames when the weather perks up a bit.

If it had a bad result, you can use brake fluid to remove the paint. It's a trick used a lot in model building. It *usually* doesn't harm the plastic and the paint just falls off after a few hours soak. Use a toothbrush to scrub off stubborn spots, usually on corners or crevices.
Instead of paint, always use vinyl dye on keyboard bodies. I've never had VHT vinyl dye come out poorly.

The ABS M1 housing will also fit an original Majestouch. Not sure about MJ2.

I actually am not as displeased as I originally thought. It looks decent enough, and it would have been totally fine if I hadn't been too heavy, and then tried to fix it on the top right corner. The rest of it looks and feels surprisingly smooth.

Its definitely not going to drive me crazy to use every day, but I'll leave this thread here in case someone has a frame just lying around they are trying to get rid of.

BUMP. I want to sell/trade this keyboard for something quieter (RF87u ruined mx blues for me), but I don't want to give it to a fellow geekhacker with a crappily modded frame.

Looks like the paint was really thick.

When I get back home and get a new air compressor. I might try air brushing mine.

If by frame you mean the faceplate, I might be able to get 2 that are in pretty decent shape on friday. Shipping will be a b*tch though. Do PM me if you are interested.

yeah the housing is what I'm talking about. The part that is not the keycaps or the board itself. The part that is black in the photos I posted. I'd need the bottom part of the housing too, btw.

Hmm not sure if I can get the bottom part. I must check on the exact details but so far everything that has to be shipped to or from me costs more since I'm in Singapore. Also, not sure if they charge by the size of the object since its literally the size of a keyboard. I'll get it checked out on Friday when I receive it.

shipping's only a ***** as its so flimsy you have to pack it really well.
Or you risk damage.

I'm trying to sell a Red New Years Edition faceplate, and people ask why I want so much because of the extra padding you gotta find to pack the sucker away.

Actually upon checking out the pricing at the post office, it's alot better than I thought. Even with plenty of padding. I already mentioned that to the OP in the previously mentioned PM.
