they fits both OEM like ducky/filxo/das and Cherry 3000 series
classic color like old keyboards

price 86$

25$ for world wide shipping with express service. recommended (increased these days)
15$ for the post offce shipping (some times it take more than a month)
add 5 for another set.
paypal account: imsto@163.com (imsto@163.com)      important! ---- do not forget to leave the address esp the phone number and zipcode

For reference, imsto is referring to these keycaps: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=14125887532

So just for clarification, these keycaps are a full 104-set and we can get them in blue, red, green, purple and yellow text with the keycap color as classic beige, correct?

Is the non-stepped capslock a centered stem for Filcos/Leopolds/etc.?  And is it the same color as the other modifiers?  It doesn't look like the same dark grey

I'm all over these, expensive but what I have been looking for. And I agree why is the non stepped caps lock white. Also does the stepped caps lock fit on a filco?
Title: here we are, thick dyesub group

Dye sub red alert!!!!!!

Lightsout, stepped caps lock will not fit on filco, ducky, leopold etc due to non centered stem.

lol.  No?  I'm not a smart man, but let's see if I understand this offer:  we are going to pay $86 + shipping, and then after a period of indeterminate waiting, we will get a set of 104 beautiful keycaps, which we'll mount on our keyboard, then and we'll toss our new PBT dyesub Caps Lock key in the garbage can (those of us with ANSI keyboards, that is), because it's useless?  So we will have a keyboard with 103 awesomely beautiful keycaps, and one repugnant eyesore of an ABS Caps Lock key in the middle of it all, like a big brown turd on a clean white blanket?  Is that right?  Oh well.  I'm in for at least one set of these 104 keycaps plus 1 useless Caps Lock.  But then again, I'm not all that bright, I already admitted that, so I feel no shame.

not the sharpest tool in the shed either

it's very clear that there's a second caps lock key in the set, which is not stepped.  that key is not tan though, which is what everyone is talking about.

Ok can someone confirm once and for all will the stepped caps lock work on a filco with no modding. Or does it need a stem mod.

It will need to be modded to fit on a Filco.  The stepped capslock key is designed for Cherry boards and has an off-centered stem.

The extra capslock that it comes with (non-stepped) will work with Filcos, however, it's color is not the same as the rest of the modifiers...which is odd.

Ok that sucks, but looks like the Profosist will be getting some business. This is the kit I have been looking for, no need for a moogle. Need to gather a little more cash.

Question? Are people sending money already? I noticed the OP was mentioning paypal fees. Couldn't we get around this by sending gifts to lower the price a bit?

I didn't do any review of the first set but my impression is that they're quite thin.  You can actually see some little indentation on top of the keycap where the stem is.  I can take a few closeup shots later.

Seattle, WA.

I think flat rate shipping is 7 dollar per person. Fitting 2 sets per box?

If we can get 4 people, we will be able to cut each of our shipping in half, if my prices above are correct.

With 4 people at one set per person the original total shipping would be $40. It's another $5 per set if I read the OP correctly.

So then divide by 4 and add 7 per individual for the second shipping. ~$17 in total overall shipping per person. Not saying I'm not interested just want to get the numbers right.

Seems like a pain in the butt to save 7 bucks. But I guess anything helps as these sets are pretty dang pricey.

Are you going to charge the fourth person, or first person depending on how you look at it and the one who receives the original shipment, for the shipping to the other three people? Because in your equation that is what you have done.

The benefit of not having to pay for the second shipping is offset by having to take the time to reship the other's sets.

Hmmm... it is confusing but I think it adds up.

$86 per set x 4 = $344
Total shipping cost = $58
Total cost = $402

Cost per person $402/4 = $100.50

That means you're paying $86/set + $14.50 shipping

:confused::sick:

The point I'm trying to make is that one person shouldn't have to pay any part of the second shipping costs since they've already received all the items, including theirs, and will be shipping sets to the remaining three people. They do pay a quarter of the first shipping costs though. I might be in for a set of blanks in either case if others want to do this.

Hmm this is not fair for the person that has to do the reshipping. He shouldn't have to pay for the 2nd shipping since he's not actually shipping his own stuff anywhere. The sign of good will is repackaging and shipping out everyone's stuff. Let's say 10 people are in on this... that's a lot of work to package, address all the boxes, and drive to the post office to ship it. You're already getting it cheaper with group shipping, so it's not really fair to ask for even cheaper at his expense.

This was the point I was making. You're paying for extra shipping you're not using and having to spend time to reship.

So whitefiredragon, tsangan, reptile and myself. Is everyone after one set of blanks? I'd like to just get this done instead of gathering more and more people.

This group shipping is good for all sets since only the shipping is divided, and everyone else covers the the cost of the actual set you're getting.

So... who's gonna step up to the plate to do the repackaging and reshipping? If no one wants to do it, then I can, because I want to get this done ASAP as well.

So far: it's me, metafour, (Gin?), Reptile, (lightsout714), (mmmty?), tsangan, (rainb1ood?), and lyk503.

EDIT: priority padded envelope is ~$5, so that comes out to $13 total shipping costs per person for the 5 confirmed people. If all 9 listed above does it, it's $11.67 per person. BTW, here is the formula I plugged into excel if you want to follow my math: (25+((X-1)*(5))+((X-1)*(5)))/(X), where X is the number of people involved.

I can do it, because one of my parents works at the post office. But I would need to have clear cut numbers, and the faster it is organized (the people involved, the final prices, and the shipping destinations,) the faster I can ship them out. I have never done this before though, so I don't really know the protocol for this type of thing.

Can we get the ball rolling on this? I guess I'll PM people to get it started. I made an excel spreadsheet to calculate all the costs, and with the 5 confirmed people so far, you save at least $12 on shipping. With more people, it'll be even cheaper.

Which flat rate box did you send it in? Medium flat rate box is $11, the small one is $5, but it won't fit inside the small one. I think shipping in a USPS padded flat rate envelope is probably the best choice. $5.10, includes tracking.

Sorry about that. What do these come in? A 104 set should fit in a small flat rate box. Unless they come in a big box. I think even if they come in two of those small kbc boxes I think they could fit in a small flat rate.

104 caps will definitely fit in small flat rate box with keys in plastic bags. I just think the box offers better protection than padded envelope.

this is what I have so far in excel, every box is pretty much an equation to generate these costs. I just plug in your name and which set you order and it will adjust costs for everyone. Let me know if anything is wrong:

If anyone else still wants in, let me know before the last person (of the 5 confirmed) pays. Once the last person pays, I will submit the group shipping order.

I know, because it's a key, not a modifier. I'm just saying with the capslock being the wrong colour, it doesn't look half-bad, even though it doesn't make as much sense. I don't really need my modifiers to be coloured (or printed, either) because I already know where they are, but I don't mind the looks of having it this way.

That said, ironically enough, on my unicomp, capslock is the only modifier that's gray, because the black set I had ordered, that key was broken.

B'sides, it's such a popular key to change, I sort-of like the thought of it being different. That way, everyone KNOWS that it's your control key (or whatever)

Thanks, I really like the font on your blue set. Fortunately KBC improved this set, as the original one looked totally unprofessional by my standards.
The legends on your pictures look bolder, the F-keys are centered, the bottom row modifiers are aligned to the left(although I prefer the windows and menu keys to be centered), also the design of the TAB key changed, and KBC fixed the length of the slash key and the alignment of the End key. Yes I'm really that picky.
Good job imsto! Overall I prefer the font over the original Cherry corp font. Now I really want a black on white set.
However there is still room for improvement, as that off-color white non-stepped capslock key looks plain ridiculous, and in my opinion KBC should have kept the vertical alignment of the Print Screen, Scroll lock, Pause centered.

Picture of the original one posted by imsto. Where is the minus key on the Num pad? Nevermind, I see it on the red set.

Edit: The font on the backspace also got fixed. The original red version had a tiny font.

I need to get the stepped caps modded. But damn I'm really not that picky. I did notice some white residue on some caps. Not sure if it's from the manufacturing process.

Whats wrong with the minus key? Caps lock is not such a big deal to me. It should have been gray of course. But I'm more worried about the stepped one.
Title: here we are, thick dyesub group
Post by: heliar on Mon, 06 February 2012, 21:43:15
the stepped one is in correct color, but it is for the cherry layout. the centered one is for filco layout but in wrong color, maybe someone at the final production process got it wrong?

Post by: lightsout714 on Mon, 06 February 2012, 21:47:22
I understand that. Shouldn't be too much of a big deal to get it modded. But yah imo they both should have been centered. But you said something was wrong with the minus key.  Looks fine to me. One pic shows a cherry cap (which I would have much rather had instead of minus) but the red set pic shows it with the minus key.

the MINUS key: is it the cherry logo one? or they provide a proper key also?
I heard they have received quite a large group buy from Korea, so maybe the seller really does not give a damn about the caplock. but if they decide to fix it, I will place my orders.

So you got the minus key correctly, and your set didn't include the cherry key? Imo the stepped capslock key is just fine, making it centered has no practical advatage. The whole idea of the stepped keys is to eliminate the need of stabilizers, and fill up the blank space(they could have used a smaller centered key, but that would make it look weird), that's the reason why the design it off-centered.

Have you experienced the common problem with thicker Cherry Corp PBT keys with costar stabilizers? Namely, the wire has a tendency to stick to the wall of the keycap when bottoming out.

I think he was just showing off the chery cap in that pic. Again if you look at the red set. You will see it has a minus. My set came with the minus key and no cherry cap.

Well the problem with it being uncentered is it doesn't freaking work! These keys were obviously made for a filco style layout right? Since all the modifiers are centered. So not really sure why the caps wouldn't be. Anyways I just noticed that with the white caps lock the LED can shine through so that is a plus for me.

As far as the stabilizer issue no I have not had any sticking. I just tested every key and couldn't make it happen. But since I got this board it has not seen much use. Its on a blue switch board and my PC is in my living room. So it can be distracting for everyone else when I use this keyboard.

In the OP it says it's also made to suit 3000 series Cherry keyboards as well which have centered modifiers but off-center stepped caps lock (the only difference between them and a Filco's layout). I'm buying the set to use with one of those so I actually want the off-center stepped caps lock as it is. The centered caps lock is just silly being off color though.

Your pictures of the caps look great, lightsout. Well done and hopefully you're enjoying the PBTs.

I'm gonna have to wait until these are in black font and the caps lock color is fixed (or they just make all white/beige caps). It's actually pretty silly that of all colors, black is the one that isn't even made and has to be requested.

I'm sure you still have the opportunity to buy this in the future! Plus like someone mentioned earlier, the small kinks like the lack of a proper centred caps lock might be ironed out by then.

Anyone get a set with purple lettering? I'm intrigued by how it would look. Pretty unique imo.

The blue-print key caps look so sharp!  I may have to get in on a similar group buy in the future. :)

Just curious...do people running these group buys ever buy more than what is "pre-ordered" to sell to others that may have missed the pre-order period?  Based on what I've seen of these group buys and the demand after, it seems like buying a few extra could be worth it.

I'm new to the group buys, though (only found out about them in the last couple weeks and never done one yet), so maybe that's not practical...

Ok I have bad news for the subgroup buy I was in charge of. I was a little anxious to receive these myself, so I sent imsto a PM asking for tracking number since it seemed quite a while now and people that ordered later are already receiving them. It turns out he had not even shipped them out yet, so basically our orders just sat there for almost 3 weeks now. He said he'll get to it right away this week. I was pretty disappointed to hear that. Makes me wonder if I never sent that nag PM, when he would actually be shipped out.

Suppose to get these like a week ago, but 3 weeks later and it hasn't even moved :tsk:

It seems you got the one with the old design, but with the Windows keys aligned to the left, which looks stupid IMO. Check the TAB key.
Also the font looks a bit thinner on your set, especially on the Capslock key, but maybe that is just the picture.

all he said is that imsto tweaked the design a bit and you have the older one compared to lightout's newer tab.

Post by: Gawkbasher on Tue, 14 February 2012, 01:23:21
Ahh...not particularly concerned with that.  I like the design of the Tab key that I have now better actually...though I get why the design was changed.  There's a slight blotch of dye on the edge of the key, outside of the printing.  It's hard to notice unless you're looking straight at it but there nonetheless.

the inconsistency of these sets is really a bummer.

i mean i still want a red set, but i wish they'd settle on a design and produce them all like that.

Yeah, that really concerns me.. I don't like surprises when I have to pay over US $100 for a single set of keycaps.
It would be nice to know what to expect prior ordering, unless they accepted custom requests.

Here's a picture of everything else not on the board now.  Seems I got an extra set of modifiers?

Edit: in fact, there's a difference in the printing of the two sets of modifiers.  One is definitely more "bold" than the other.  just took the "lighter" Ctrl/Alt/Win/App keys off my board.

Thanks for the picture.

I'm glad they fixed the alignment issue on the Print Screen, Scroll Lock and Pause.

Unfortunately it is not just on the modifiers. The font on your whole set looks thinner compared to Lightsout714's bolder one. It's easy to catch the difference on the capslock, F-keys. It's a bit harder to catch on the home cluster, but it is definitely there.

Aye.  After a glance, likewise.  I'm really happy overall with the set that I got.  Only issue was when I first got it, the Left Shift key was sticking when I'd push the left side of it down but now that's gone away...That might just be the Poker though with some keycaps...other people have said the same things (stock PBT caps had no issue but they're taller).

I did notice some white residue on some caps. Not sure if it's from the manufacturing process.

Good new, I finally got confirmation from imsto that our sub-group shipping finally shipped. I asked if he knew how long it takes to receive, and he said:

Quote
DHL 3-6 days
Postoffice 15-25days

Not exactly sure what this means, hopefully 3-6 days since we paid for the express. But it also has to go through our post office, but they're usually pretty fast, not a month, so not sure what that 15-25 days really is.

Good news! I came home today saw a nice little package waiting for me. Actually a pretty large package :D

I'll try to ship all the stuff for the sub-group buy tomorrow.

This is awesome news. Thanks to WhiteFireDragon for the effort on this mini-group buy and to imsto.

Since he never posts here I thought I would put this out there. I asked imsto about getting more of these. He said it would take at least 20 business days. As they are producing more.

Sadly he said the caps lock issue will not be fixed. Not sure why.

maybe he does not want people who had bought the incorrect caplock to bother him for a replacement one. Fixing it should not be that difficult.

Yah idk, but I would think if doing a second run it would be mando. Oh well I don't want to wait. Sold my blue set but the red looked really nice. BUt it will probably be 2 months before they make it to the states.

I thought $25 shipping was the only option.  Has everyone else who paid the $25 gotten theirs?  Were we supposed to get tracking numbers, or anything?

I PMed with him in early February; Confirmed my order and paid. Then I never heard any word. I finally PMed him again, and he said that he was waiting for them, or something....  Last week, he said "next week" they will make them (WTF???) and maybe ship too. I think that what we have got here is a failure to communicate.  :-(

I figured that. The ones interested in NEO (just 2 so far /UPDATE 3 now) prefer the flat ANSI enter anyway, for maximum compatibility the kit would have to have 108 keys, I guess…

I’m new to this business but I’ll try to help you with anything you need. :-)
