Not sure if I want to get the Rosewill or the Cooler master. I would prefer a TKL but the rosewill currently has a $20 GC and the cooler master is going to be $90+~$10 shipping from cooler master store. I was about to buy the rosewill but after reading about people's qc problems (spacebar, usb port breaking, etc.) I'm not sure if it is worth saving $20 and risk the keyboard breaking in a couple months. Which one should I go with geekhack?

quickfire rapid is cooler.

@pitashen yes that is true
Does anybody think that newegg, amazon, or ncix.us will resell the quickfire reds with free shipping some time in January or February?
-
Let me call up the CEO of Newegg right now and find out. Will let you know when I find out.
LoL, jk... I want to know the same too.

I spoke with a rep from CM earlier today. They currently only have plans on selling the mx blue board in the us, which is now on sale at newegg for 79.99. They are evaluating if it is worth while to bring the other models to the us with in the next 3 months.
Also, they updated the cmstorm site today to list the red board as a apac only board. So the chances that you will see it at a us store is slim. PCHome is one of your few choices to get it shipped here.

fffffffuuuuuuuu exactly what I did not wish to here, then I guess i'm gonna be pulling the trigger on the rosewill, does it have any warranty past the RMA period?

1 year, and so you know an order from PCHome for the QuickFire with reds comes out to most area's in the us for 110-120. So might be worth it for you if you want it to get that.

$111 for US48 I believe, that is too much I can only get a board under $100 and since I want reds I guess I'll go with a rosewill, it won't be that bad if I plastidipp the logo off, and get some custom WASD keycaps and maybe doubleshots later on if anybody thinks that the cooler master is worth paying $30 more for please post otherwise i'm going with the rosewill.
Does PCHome ever have sales?

99.99 shipped to 111 is not a huge jump for a higher quality board. (The $20 gift card is for use on another purchase so you are still paying to full price for the board)

The Rosewill carries a 3 year warranty according to the spec sheet in the box.

It is 3 years on parts and 1 year on labor. But after that year, you better be good at electrical work as Rosewill is notorious for charging $70+ and hour for labor with a minimum of 2 hours needed for all jobs.

Ughh I don't even want to buy a mechanical keyboard any more it keeps getting more and more expensive I've been waiting to buy the cooler master for $90 for 3months and then cooler master says they're going to jack up the price of just the reds and then they decide well people won't even want it and are only leaving it in the APAC so I have to buy from PCHome which requires more money....jesus christ. I just want a nice TKL cherry mx red board for $100 is that too much to ask for?
-
For CM QF, there's this "rubber coating surface"
Is it on the keys or the keyboard bezel? will this coating drops like Razer mouse and turn sticky after X number of months.

I was worrying about that, although rubber coating feels nice at the beginning :/

You waited 3 months to save 20 bucks? I'm pretty broke right now but I'd rather come up with the 20 bucks and have my board. I just got my quickfire with reds from pchome. Cost me $111 and I got it in 4 days. Or go to elitekeyboards the leopold red tenkeyless is on sale for 89 bucks. You gotta pay for shipping of course and possibly tax.
-
just like mobile devices. Like SE K800i and certain camera. I thought it was the sweat or the natural oil on skin causing it. But it happens to my Panasonic FX9 camera. Probably due to asia's humidity.

Yes I need to save as much as possible right now so waiting for months for a hobby item is acceptable for me. How are you liking your cooler master? I talked to a cooler master rep a couple minutes ago and they refused to give me a date and said that cooler master is still deciding if marketing the reds in the US is worth it. I don't want to do the leopold because it isn't that cheap, isn't otaku, and leopold doesn't have the same quality as the cooler master from what i have read

The Cm isn't blank either. I bought a Cm with reds and a leo with reds in the last week. There is no difference in quality imo between the two. Not sure why you say this. Unless your referring to the usb issue some have reported. Either way I like both. The difference I see in the two is that the CM uses a Costar stabilizer. Which I prefer. It has a more crisp feel. The ones on the Leo feel kind of mushy (the stabilized keys). But leopold's are very high quality. Filco, CM, and Leopold are all equal as far as build quality goes imo.

Yes I realize that, It's just that I actually preferred cooler masters stylized letters even though they are gaudy and gimmicky. I guess now it's down to either the leo or this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Noppoo-Choc-Mini-NKRO-Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Red-/250888280157?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item3a6a1b585d#ht_6173wt_1163) (ebay link) If the Nopoo choc mini is legit then I'm probably going with that but I'm not positive given not 100% feedback and Hong Kong.

Noppoo Choc Mini isn't exactly the best built board either, at least inferior to Leopold.
-
Yes I've had two minis. Cool boards but build quality is definitely not on par with a Leopold. They are pretty light weight feeling.
-
Okay think I'm just then going to crawl back to the waiting room and wait for the quickfire I do need to buy a DAC so this can wait another 2-3 months I guess
-
If you can't wait, there is always global.pchome (http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAH28-A58428401&SR_NO=DCAH28&ROWNO=1&tm=u) for you(provided you wouldn't care on the hard/no warranty claim issue)
-
OP have you considered different switches?
I used to want Reds, but I eventually chose Blues because of the tactility and the light feel (even my rubber domes are heavier).
Just my 2 cents.

I don't want tactile switches and yes I have considered different types, I think reds are probably the best for me based on sound description, actuation.

I was going to wait for the fc700r from leo, but decided to jump into a fc200 for the hell of it. It will most likely go to the wife when I get a 700. But for $89 + shipping to me, it comes out to $102.61. I think for a TKL board with reds is a damn good price. And after a few talks via email with Brian from EK, I am very happy with their customer service which makes things much better when buying a product.
-
For what it's worth, I love my Rosewill with Reds... I prefer it to my Das and it has a similar, if not superior build quality. To the guy who said "expect $70/hr 2hr min" for Rosewill repairs... at that point, it's cheaper to buy a new board.
Anyway, my Rosewill with Reds is my absolute favorite board from my collection in no particular order: Rosewill/Reds, Das3/Blues, CherryPOS/ErgoClears, Poker/Browns, 11800/Browns, 11900/Blacks+GhettoReds, SIIG/WhiteAlps.
-
Disheartening to read that CM is going to hold off on bringing the reds to the US. I was waiting on that board for my first mechanical purchase. I like that it has media functions. I just need a way to control volume in-game and to disable the Windows key, and the current Leo offering doesn't seem to have that, same with the Rosewill.
Reds seem like the best option because I will be using this board exclusively to play games.
So the Quickfire from PC home has more than just English characters on the keys, right? I'm non interested in that...

Yes that is correct
