Title: How do you store your keyboards and caps?
Post by: Barn on Thu, 12 January 2012, 09:50:24
Hey :)

I'm starting to build up a collection, and am wondering how you guys store your keyboards and caps and if you have any tips/suggestions.
Photos are appreciated.

Thanks for the help

I still wonder if the G81 metal plate could be used somehow to hold the caps effectively. The MY switches are just to high for that purpose.

In my mind I have this idea:
Maybe a folder system (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7f/Ordner-exenter.jpg) in a big version could be mounted on the wall an hold the plates with the caps so that you can turn like paper forth and back on the wall.

I keep sets of keys in the net bags that I buy grapefruit in at the store, after washing, of course. That way they are sure to dry properly, since I always wash them well before storage. The net bags go into a cardboard box.

Keyboards for deep storage get a layer of large bubble wrap over the keys, and a sheet of cardboard over that. Then I wrap in a plastic sheet and tape it shut.

I have tons of old business cards that I put in each lot with details on what is inside.

I use US Post Office "game board" priority mail boxes if I don't have the proper box.

I plan to display mine on a wall when I get enough space. Until them I rest them on their side. I don't like the idea of stacking them. Too much weight on switches, and it probably is not good for them to stay depressed

For caps, Ziploc ftw!
Ah, they are my victims for mod, not a collection.
