Title: Overall Keycap request for Cherry Blacks
Post by: Inf3rn0_44 on Sun, 15 January 2012, 11:35:05
Hopefully am in the process of getting my first mechanical board :D Yay :) Its an Access AKC090 and I wanted to try its layout since I did enjoy they type-matrix 2030 and I don't have all the cash to drop onto a truly ergo just yet! That or the Noopoo Choc Mini. Anyway I wanted to know where I can get the blank solid keycaps. My budget is low and I would prefer if possible that they have a rounder edge to the edges of the caps. Not severely rounded, just so that it feels nicer to the touch.

Post what you find, I am open to ideas. :)

Also is there anything to eliminate keycap wobble and acoustics of key presses?
Thank You GH :)

If you look around the groupbuy and classified there are people selling O-rings (rubber rings) that can help you reduce the noise of bottoming out.

Filco/WASD has the "oem" keycap sizing, which is a bit taller than SP/cherry. Some say that the shorter SP/cherry sizes "wobble" a bit less, which makes sense. An far as acoustics, I would recommend o-rings.

Des the access come with a flat profile? Do you want a sculpted profile? I think of the sets I have, the SP PBT keys are the "roundest" on the edge, but it's pretty close to my WASD. They also have a lot less area on the top of the key than unicomp/WASD have. The keys on my unicomp (that won't fit on your access keyboard) have a more acute angle than WYSE/SP, but it looks like the radius of curvature for them is a little bigger. SP has the most obtuse angle. The SP spacebar is really nice, but only if mounted backwards. Otherwise, it's really sharp!

Yeah, I have ordered O-Rings. Now I am thinking about ordering either PBT keycaps or some POM Jelly keycaps. Whats the better pick?

I don't think any of the jelly keycaps look great (got them from ebay) and they look rather cheap. I'm having buyers regret atm ><. But I'll see if it'll look better after i get nyancaps in. But that's just my 2 cents.
