Title: Do you know if there's a program that would do this...
Post by: tian105 on Wed, 18 January 2012, 11:12:36
Just got my 2nd mechanical keyboard from WASD. My first one the the TT Meka G1(Blacks switches). I got with Cherry Mx red switches this time and i finally understand the expression "typing on cloud of boobs".
I like the feeling as it' quite nice..

I know im still getting used to the keyboard.
But I've been having this problem: when im in a gaming session, I tend to rest my hand on some keys because the game i play require constantly tapping on the space bar and the finger i have a habit of using to tap the spacebar is my thumb.. so i would sometimes tap out of the game with no intentions to... and when i get back to the game screen, i died..(ingame).

So i guess my quesiton is, is there a program that allows me to lock certain keys on the keyboard?(like tab,ctrl,shift,alt///etc)
Also i wanna know if anyone else have this problem with reds?

Autohotkey might be able to do something like this. A simpler answer, and more beneficial in the long run, stop resting your hands on keys. When I play Quake I'm pressing spacebar every half second and I've never had this problem.

Is it pulling you out of game from 'sticky key' crap coming on? If thats the problem you can disable it (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-the-irritating-sticky-filter-keys-popup-dialogs/).

Autohotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com/) can kill any key for you. Here's some documentation (http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/Override.htm) on it. If you're unsure the name of certain keys, here's a list of key codes (http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/KeyList.htm) for AHK.

some games take the keyboard actions from a layer under the os. if you try it with software like autohotkey or sharpkeys3.0 it can happen, that the key is properly blocked in windoze but ingame it works perfectly fine.

its just like this with BF3 and the console key. remapping in windoze registry works but ingame its the same crap as ever.
