Title: Complaints about MX Brown
Post by: theOwlol on Thu, 19 January 2012, 16:15:37
Hi!,

I own an Ducky Shining with MX Browns, my friend keep complaining on Skype, about the noise.

So I thought I would buy an MX blue Board to shut him up ( thinking about noopoo choc mini )

Anyone have similar story's and how did you "solve" it?

Also if anyone have any other suggestions about the board, I wont mind.

If so, then the solution is not a different keyboard/switch, but rather o-rings. (http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keyboard-accessories-2/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html)

MX Blacks are quieter, Blues are loud as hell, Browns are in between, speaking from experience.

Buying him blues would make it worst if you're worried about noise. BTW I have o-ring installed on my browns are they are pretty darn quiet.

Here are some examples of boards with and without the o-ring mod.

o-rings will quiet blacks and browns to the same very low noise level. OP check this out:

Alternately, buy a better mic / sound card that has good noise cancelling so it dosen't pick it up (as much)... Enjoy the switch of your choice.

Blues will make it louder... My mate has a BlackWidow and I have a brown switch keyboard. His is so much louder than mine, even when his is over skype...

Get some O-rings and try that out first.

Another is to get good mic/sound card that cancels the noise. If you don't have a mic, a mic makes a lot of difference. The sound picked up from the mic should be from one direction (you) whereas if you have your laptop or something its picking up everything around it (you + keyboard).

I have some friends who play with me, and either they haven't complained (even if I ask them if my button mashing is annoying) or they bring it up and then get used to it. = /

Oh looking at the link from above. A simple solution: put a towel/jumper over your hand when you type.

I have complaints about every keyboard that I have.

Luckily all keyboards have no ears to hear such, otherwise they would run away from me.

Yeah... Don't do that.

O-rings, or don't whack the keys so hard. My Browns don't make much noise at all unless I'm bashing on the keys pretty hard.
