Newegg has an open box Razer BlackWidow MAC edition (it works on Windows as well) for $38.

Ah, this would be perfect for what I'm currently looking for (a board for the office, where we use macbooks), but iirc these are blue switches, which are probably a bit on the loud side when there's people sitting right next to me. If only these came with browns.

I had the exact same thought when I went and looked it up. If only they were browns... =\

Bummer, OOS. I wonder how many they actually had.

I know. I wanted one to harvest switches from.

It's plate mounted so you're planning to desolder everything just for switches? That's a lot of work...

You should have seen what I did with the guts of the two broken Sony FW900s I had once. In short: yes, I would totally desolder and harvest all the switches. Wouldn't you?
I enjoy desoldering. It's like sharpening a knife, gets the hands busy and lets the brain think.

I was just looking around for some great deals on MX Blues when I found this topic(pity they are already out of stock) but as long the desoldering is concerned, to do it easy, just take an iron, heat it up and turn it upside down, then gently approach the board to the bottom of the iron, after a couple of minutes you can pull out all the switches like they are just placed there.

Hmm. Of course having a hakko 808 would make things easier. I think that's a good idea for those without.
