So I finally received them today...I open up the box, and they they are, wearing one of those tight rubber protection key covers...But wait, what is this? I thought these were gonna be white!

Turns out that both units are in a cool industrial gray! The hue is warmer than what the pic shows--they look great, and they nicely match mu very old Logitech trackball:

I had never seen these keyboards in this color...I think they look awesome, maybe even better than black or white. I was happy that I was getting the keyboards today, but now I'm even happier. Nice surprise.
:becky:

My 4100s I got who-knows-where-years-ago-before-I-knew-about-all-this-mech-board-stuff are one in that industrial colour and one in typical beige. I love the grey too. Unfortunately, someone desoldered the Fn switch from that one. (What is wrong with some people?) I'd love to get a switch and cap for it someday and replace it.
-
jkercado, what's the full product name?
-
Hmm, I'm at the office, and that keyboard is at home--I'll get you that info tonight.
-
i have the same keyboard for my HTPC and it usually rests on top of my wii, the wii is ugly white.

What you got, jkercado, are SPAUS models. The first 'S' says the key caps are sublimated, which is not so common for G84-4100. I have 3 tampo printed, they are PPAUS, and 3 laser etched, LPAUS and LCAUS. I like better the lasered ones, for the printed caps will fade in a few years. The sublimated caps will last a long time.
-
I just got mine in the mail today too. Both of mine came in the same color also. I starting the like the feel of these switches. The compact layout will take some time getting use to. The backspace is pretty small. Add me to the g84-4100 club.

Yup, SPAUS it is!

Cool, welcome to the club! We're two now. :becky: I'll have to change my sig!

Where did you get your G84 from?
-
Very nice keyboard! :D
-
My first one, white, from Dante. The second ome I got is a black USB unit off eBay. The last two ones, the grays, came from anothher eBay seller, pacificgeek.
-
Thanks jkercado. The pacificgeek seller on ebay is the one who has the SPAUS model? Thanks.
-
Over here (http://www.pacificgeek.com/product.asp?id=21450&C=206&S=1689)
-
Thanks alaricljs. But I think jkercado was able to buy 2 for $30 shipped on ebay. I want to try that route, but there is no pacificgeek seller on ebay that I can find. Is it this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PS2-Mini-Footprint-Cherry-ML4100-/260934804267

Same non-cherry part number on the listing and at pacificgeek. Wonder how he got 2 for 1, although they have a regularly updated 2 for 1 deal page the ML4100 isn't on it.
-
Maybe pacificgeek is the same as CSO (ComputerSurplusOutlet) on ebay? Both are in Nevada.

They had a few keyboards available for $19.99 with free shipping, but had the "Make An Offer" button available, so I put in 2 X $30. The offer was accepted ten minutes later!
-
Looking at my auction link, yep, that's it...They bumped the price and got rid of accepting offers! Apparently they realized what they had...
-
This auction is $29.99 free shipping, but does accept offers. Is it the same as what you are seeing? You just mentioned yours now doesn't accept offers any more. I just want to make sure I buy from the same seller to get the dye sub keycaps :-). Thanks.

Sorry, I was confused for a second there--they do accept offers! Yes, that's them..
-
Cool. Let me see if they would at $15 for one ;-)
-
Troll your local flea market for SPAUSs.
-
I haven't seen any in my area. Well, I haven't really gone out to look. Do these show up in flea markets in your area? How much do they go for there?
-
Now I'm wondering if he means spouses.
-
D'oh! The same seller has a different listing for $19.99. Looks to be the same http://www.ebay.com/itm/PS2-Mini-Footprint-Cherry-Mini-Cherry-/250736769848
-
That's the price they had originally. Why have two auctions? Odd. I'm not doubting their reputation as seller, my experience with them was good.
-
Yup, SPAUS it is!
FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU! :D
Oops:
Condition: Used
Ah, it's ok then. I'm after NIB only.
Congrats on sporting dye-sublimated 4100.
-
They all wear condoms, so use should be OK, right? jkercado, what is the condition of your grey ones when you received them?

I gotta say that once I removed the key condom :becky: they are basically in new condition. Perfectly clean, crips keys. One of them did have wobbly legs, but I use my keyboard flat anyway, so I went ahead and took 'em off. But there's not a single stain or blemish--it seems that they got wrapped up straight out of the box.
-
I got a counter offer for $18.00 shipped. Not bad. Thinking if I should counter back. I am a cheap bastard.
-
$18 with no shipping is a damn good deal.
-
Yep, just accepted the counteroffer and paid while waiting for another acrylic layer to be cut at the shop. :-)

Nice, find any other colors that work well yet?
-
I am just testing a couple more minor changes before I send it to the real shop.
