Someone please advise me how to connect a 6 pin PS2 on my 5001 keyboard to work with a USB port.  I have the adapter, but the computer (Windows XP & 7) doesn't recognize the keyboard.  Do I need drivers and if so how do I get them.  Also, there are switches, but none of the combinations I tried seem to work.  A manual would help.

You will need an active usb connector like a the blue cube (http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/11298/subcatid/0/id/124184).
That page also tells you why passive ones do not work.
