Hello geekhackers!

I will be hosting a Starcraft 2 tournament Saturday February 4th.

This is a single elimination tournament with a pre-chosen map pool. This will be a private tournament through z33k.com on the NA server.
You MUST have at least 50 posts to enter the tournament. This is to prevent randoms from taking my caps!
I would like every one to play the first match since it is randomly selected. If you advance you can message your opponent if you have to do it at a later time.
If you want to participate please post on this thread and I will PM you a code to enter

I tried streaming last year. And I couldn't play and stream without it lagging like a *****. Need a good U/L bandwidth for it. I'm on the worse internet in the world atm. I hope noone pulls a DEEZER/CombatEX

Yeah but even if someone stream cheated their games wouldn't be cast every game so they would need skill to advance.

Looking for volunteers to stream still. I could do it but I don't have anything set up at all. I will if I have to though :-)

I end up commentating on the streams/games we (my roommates and I are all SC2 stream addicts) watch around the house, I'd just have to test to make sure my upload bandwidth is decent. Probably having a co-caster (Skype) would be best though...but honestly given the format, we'll probably want to stream replays anyway. I have high quality mics, cameras, and a computer setup with all the correct software.

I can't promise quality commentary though... :)

All you need is good upload bandwidth. I followed destiny's guide and it works out well.

I'm a toss who switched to random and decided to play Macro Games. I'm still in Gold becuase I can't win a game as Terran without cheesing, my Zerg is not much better either XD. But this tournament needs more Random players so I'm in.

From the tournament webpage, best of one for the first two rounds. Quarters and semis will be best of three, finals best of five.

Map pool: MLG Xel'Naga Caverns, MLG Testbug, MLG Metalopolis, GSL Bel'Shir Beach, GSL Xel'Naga Fortress.

I was under the impression that WASDkeyboards' caps were not PBT. Edit: Yeah WASD's website says ABS.
Qtan has both ABS and PBT I believe.

Qtan on the other hand clearly labels his by type.

Yeah, WASD only has ABS keycaps in stock IIRC. I e-mailed them about having any PBT keycaps in stock but they replied saying it was too expensive to carry at this time.

Qtan and imsto both have PBT keycaps available.

Well, if GSL Code S is to be believed, nobody wants to face Protoss right now. I watched the GSL Code S Ro 16 Group Pick and NesTea & DRG both said the same thing. All of the high level Korean Zerg players are of the opinion right now that they CANNOT beat Protoss and for the most part it looks like high level PvT play has been "figured out" as well. Even though we don't show all that strong, it's a good time to be Protoss right now.

At high level play, no one can really beat Protoss in the late game.

But at lower leagues like where we're at, the game is still balanced (for the most part). There are still a lot of strategies out there that can be exploited (I won't be getting into them since we're all going for those keycaps!) because we're not playing at that high of a level where balance starts to become a major issue.

All that being said, it really is a good time to be a Protoss player. :)

i don't think you watch enough of other tournaments ^__^ at homestory cup, eight of the protosses lost out in the same round almost exclusively to non-protoss players. certainly a death ball from protoss in the late game is scary ****, but pros like MMA or kas (i play terran and will reference my own race at will) just avoid the ball and harass them to death with drops and viking pokes. the death ball isn't very scary when it gets A-clicked and every unit runs a separate direction hehe

Also the Homestory Cup thing was really a numbers game. Ro32 started 12 P, 10 T, 10 Z and the numbers for Ro16 were 6 P, 5 T, 5 Z...so it basically was just a flat reduction in half. Protoss took the 1st, 3rd and 6th place spots. The highest placing Zergs faced against Protoss and got 3-0'd, 3-1'd and 3-1'd respectively in their final matchups. MC 4-0'd Sound (Terran) in the final.

There are some really important matches from this season of GSL Code S and GSTL that you should watch that show how easily a low-ranked Code S Protoss can handle the top Terran and Zerg pros early to mid game. Not that that guarantees a win but there seems to be an advantage.

Edit: Not to let this discourage anyone. Honestly I doubt any of this has an effect on those playing. The masters Terran players we have could roflstomp me without trying hard. :B

I would like every one to play the first match since it is randomly selected. If you advance you can message your opponent if you have to do it at a later time.

Its really obvious when someone of higher skill plays down leagues. When you watch their games. Also, I have a good amount of trust with the people on this forum. I wouldn't trust people on zeek/playhem. Hell I was a diamond playing down to gold on Playhem and still not winning.

Come join NA! xD I have NA,EU and SEA. I am crazy like that. I started with SEA, got NA free from blizz and then bought Collectors Edition EU. Too bad almost never play EU and get to see my awesome CE Thor.

Sea players who registered in the first few months of release were given NA as well, as Oceanic players tend to play on NA servers (I think this idea came from the WoW servers. Tons of Sea players on the NA server and not on oceanic servers).

I don't know, you might be able to find some retailer that sells just keys online for a good price.

People were throwing around ideas for different skill level brackets so it would be more fair and give the lower leagues to win some caps or whatever would be additional prizes.

They should be there soon! Z33k was pretty easy to set up double elim sounds good depends on how many people sign up
