Title: DSI full keyboard for lefties
Post by: jellowiggler on Mon, 30 January 2012, 14:18:03
I thought this was kind of neat.

104 key board with left handed arrows, mid block, and keypad.

Too bad it has the backspace & oversized enter key. Correct that and add MX browns and it looks like an awesome keyboard for a lefty.

Not even for lefty. If they have backlit, I'll try one.
Imagine play game with it, no need a tenkeyless. And I'm using numpad with my left hand. It's perfect for me

Exactly what I'm thinking. Why not move the tenkeys to the left for right handers? That way you don't have to completely remove them to get a tenkeyless mouse setup. Leaving the nav keys in their origonal position would be appreciated though...

I'd rather get rid of the nav keys, and leave the tenkeys.  As an engineer the numpad is useful.  I'm working on something along those lines over here (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?25787-Alternative-keyboard-layout-5-rows-only-XT-style-function-keys&p=500723&viewfull=1#post500723).  If you put the function keys on the left, they could double as a nav cluster for left-handed people.  At least personally I don't use the function keys a whole lot anymore.

mnn... we may need a keyboard with 4 parts detachable (nav keys, ten keys, function keys & main keys),
so we can put whatever positions we like <---- dreaming :flypig:

The hard part would be getting someone to design modular PCBs. Once you have designs, they can be sent out to PCB shops who make them up for you. One of the resident controller gurus would need to make a controller capable of handling it though. If the board was Lego enough, you could even have extra key modules like terminal and POS boards have.

I'd build the most hideous battleship you'd ever seen...:peace:
