Title: SIIG MiniTouch DoublePack! Simplified Type II ALPS MiniTouch + Monterey Suntouch Jr.
Post by: REVENGE on Wed, 01 February 2012, 19:40:38
SOLD: a MiniTouch and a Suntouch Jr. The Suntouch Jr. also has the light blue ALPS compatible Monterey switches, but I bet both boards were actually OEM'd by Monterey.

Item conditions: Both are in good condition with some scratches and scuffs here and there. I have meticulously cleaned both boards and keycaps inside and out. Note that the MiniTouch does not have angle adjustment feet, while the Suntouch Jr. has a slightly damaged 6P6C jack. For the Suntouch Jr., one of the adjustment feet was also superglued by the previous owner to fix a fracture. Inside, there was a broken board stabilizer which I fixed using epoxy. Finally, the Pause/Break key on the Suntouch Jr. is a little finicky, you must bottom out for the switch to actuate.

Word of caution: The Suntouch Jr. has the infamous old Monterey controller, which uses a strange PS/2 implementation that has some problems with certain PS/2 to USB adapters. On native PS/2, I find that everything works perfectly. On my Gearhead adapter, for example, the host to device communication doesn't work, so the status LEDs are non-functional and you cannot activate the embedded numpad (although everything else, like Caps Lock, works fine). The regular Teensy implementations from Soarer and Hasu don't work either, you'll need to build and use Hasu's Teensy USART or VUSB  implementation (they still won't have host to device comm).

Nice... so $120 for both and not $120 for each right? (sorry for the dumb question)

Also any possibility to sell seperately.

Title: Difference between Minitouch and Suntouch Jr
Post by: ed_avis on Sat, 11 February 2012, 03:41:57
The Minitouch and the Suntouch Jr appear very similar.  What is the difference between these two boards?  (I know that the examples you are selling have different keyswitches.)

Different internals. My guess is that Monterey was heavily involved in making both.

There's a distinct Suntouch line of keyboards that were sold by SIIG. IIRC, there's a full size "PC" Suntouch, full size "Mac" Suntouch, and now this here Suntouch Jr.

Well, somebody offered $110 and I accepted, but I haven't heard back from them. If anyone else wants to, I'll do the same offer, $110 + shipping to wherever.

Revenge, are you ever going to sell those Steelseries 6gv1's or are those still local pickup only?
Oh, I think I've sold nearly all of the good ones. I've got a few left that I need to repair one way or another.
