Title: Brown ALPS keyboards?
Post by: 002 on Sun, 12 February 2012, 01:06:15
So far I know of two keyboards that have Brown ALPS switches. Does anyone know of any others?

One is the keyboard from the PC Convertible:

The other is a Yamaha KB-1000:

Holy shnikeys! Do you happen to have one yourself, or have you just found the pictures?

The PC Convertible pictured is mine but I don't have the Yamaha.
I'd love to get my hands on one though, or even any board with Brown ALPS but they seem like they're pretty rare.

Didn't even know they existed. How do they compare to other ALPS/Cherry MXs? Ripometer it up!

They require a large amount of force and feel similar to the Topre 55g.
I do not have access to American coins but I had a stack weighing 78g and it was enough to squash down the switch - remove one coin (weighing 3 grams) and it's not enough.
I had to remove the keycap to balance the coins and the keycaps weighs 3 grams (Left ALT) so my guess is between 73g and 77g.

Video of me mashing on it [sorry for quality]:
