Title: Solidtek 6600 - weird construction flaw
Post by: Stormwatch on Tue, 14 February 2012, 05:22:51
I've bought a Solidtek 6600 recently, and for $40 I didn't expect anything too fancy. But this detail was a bit of a letdown:

As you see, the 'C' can't be pressed as deep as the others keys; it sounds different too. Now, it's technically not 'defective', it works fine, and it's still better than anything that I could get locally. Besides, international shipping would make a return more expensive than straight up buying another unit. Still, it's quite annoying to buy something and find it's a bit 'off' like that.

Get on with it, Ripster will call it McRip effect.

Besides, even something cost more than $100(razer BWU) also had such problem and no much ppl whine about it, so you better get use to it.

Supposedly, Alps simplified type I (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=ALPS+switches). No idea if the problem is the cap or the switch itself, tried to pull out the key but could't, so I gave up.

To the OP and others as a WARNING.

When I clicked on the photo (post #1) I got two popups and one of them was a large and live "adult" related one. NSFW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a heads up!  =S

Yay, fixed it. Managed to remove the cap, and there was this little bit of plastic inside that clearly should have been removed but was not.

As it was a freak case, and easily fixed, now I can say it is a pretty good keyboard, definitely worth the price.
