37 (or every other) red pbt cherry mx keycaps.  Preferably dye sublimated, I want to do a checkerboard layout, so every other keycap would be fine, also with the legends on the front (so you don't touch them, but you see them) would be good.  I will spend up to $30.

Nope, no such thing as dyesubbed side print red pbt on the market. You will need to at least double your budget if you want PBT at all. For $30 you able to get 2 sets of cheap K-Force ABS on ebay.
