Title: Another Variable Force mod: Ricercar SPOS (G80-62410EUADSA)
Post by: akerasi on Fri, 24 February 2012, 18:55:48
So, I got my beautiful Ricercar SPOS, and I loved it from the minute I got it. Great layout, good size, really nice lasered keys, and it came to me in near-new condition, other than a few bits of cat hair inside (hey, people have pets. It happens). However, I've become very accustomed to typing on my Variable Force G80-11900 HRMIT, so it was time to make this one variable force as well. The process and layout was pretty much the same as my other one, and the second one I made (which I didn't post here about) as a gift to a friend who fell in love with mine. Pretty much the same mod, just another board... and it came out very well. Here's some pics from the process:

Extra parts, from one of the 4 G80 POS boards I've harvested over time. I actually built the board these came from into a Ghetto Reds board for gaming, since it was NKRO and in decent shape.

The switches that have been replaced are all Ergo Clears at this point. All others are to be either standard Clears, or my one row of Tactoblacks.

Currently open switches are the Tactoblacks.

It was just a crappy cell phone camera, but it'll help you get the gist. Just figured I'd share my new project, and new main at-home keyboard (the HRMIT board of the original variable force mod is what I use at work).

Siiick.  The ricercar is the bomb, best feeling board I've ever had the pleasure of typing on.

Consider removing the top bezel to reveal another row of character you can map with AHK:
