I'm wondering if there would be any interest in creating a custom Bitcoin (BTC) symbol Cherry MX key cap for any Mechanical keyboard which uses Cherry brand switches.
Its profile would match both the function row (ESC + F1-F12) or the numbers row (~, 1-0, -, +) keys for where ever you wanted to use it.
It would look similar to this (thanks hazeluff for the mock up):

This would be a custom ABS double-shot keycap from SP, and the exact price would depend upon the quantity ordered.
If you would be interested, please respond here or PM me. Or if you have any suggestions on a different design or graphic, please post that as well.
Thank you! -inlikeflynn
p.s. no ripster negative comments about BTC allowed in this thread :)

That is likely a trademarked symbol and therefore nearly impossible to get by SP; Melissa is a shark for avoiding lawsuits... she did offer, however, to me that if I wanted to put the weight of any SC2 related buys on my shoulders I could...

We should really have some one do a little research on licensing. For what we are doing it might be a minimal cost spread over a group buy.

Bitcoin may reply to emails but Blizzard sure ignored my 30.

the problem isn't blizzard (i have a few friends there), but their parent company..

Blizzard has a licensing email, sir, which is designed for such a purpose but they are not the topic and I apologize to flynn for both distracting him and outspending him in the GH buy. (I keep the sc2 stuff for private).

Bitcoin is not owned by anyone. Who is going to sue you? Go to the bitcoin forum and have a look at how many custom things they did putting that BTC logo.
One characteristic about bitcoin, is that it's decentralized. There is one creator of it, but he disappeared off the face of the earth.

Thats because he made a **** ton of money and split after the prices spiked before things started to go down hill.

so the key to making money is
make fake currency and con people into believing in it
and make up a religion
im clearly in the wrong business
-
make up fake keyboards, con people into typing on them

Yeah, but that's not the point. The point is that Satoshi Nakamoto is not going to come out of his cave to sue a bunch of people trying to make keyboard caps out of a decentralized logo. The BTC logo is not copyrighted, nor is it owned by any one company.

you just perfectly described solidcoin which is a complete scam and run by a nutjob
Like others have said, there is no copyright issue with the BTC symbol. there are hundreds of products already out there using it, including physical coins and what not. so that isn't going to be a problem with SP
haven't seen any interest posts yet about these, just the usual BTC scam/no-scam sort of debate that come sup every time :)

Its a scam and not a scam at the same time. The person who made the thing benefited and all the people using it has a currency they can use online.

I'd be interested, if you could get away with it.

This interest check doesn't look so hot. Either way, if this ends up happening, then put me down for 3 caps.
-
It would be like getting an esperanto-centric kb layout. GLWIC.
-
Make it Esperanto Dvorak & you've got yourself a deal.

yea almost no interest for this key both here and surprisingly on the bitcoin forums. so not looking like I will even attempt it :(
