I saw this instrument of torture described as "ergonomic" (!). See how many awful design choices they made, and remember they paid someone to design this -- presumably someone who has never seen a keyboard before:

Granted, the number pad is supposed to be for left-handed people, but even they don't deserves something like this.
To be honest, I think even this is more ergonomic:

What are you on about, reverse staggering is good. Numpad on the right means your mouse is closer to you. It is better than your normal 104 keyboard.

Look at it more closely. It has the same stagger as a normal keyboard, the keys have just been morphed into diamonds and trapezoids. Just making it a matrix keyboard would have been simpler and more ergonomic. Let me see if I can find a picture to illustrate.
Edited to note: I won't swipe the picture, but PrinsValium had a very slick project (The Symmetric Stagger Board, and more specifically, The Symmetric Tenkeyless) that illustrates one very slick way to make the stagger right. Plus, you can always stick a number pad on either side. If I can link to the project itself: http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:19613 (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:19613)
As an added bonus, it's a lot easier to find keycaps.
(Really impressed by PrinsValium's board, btw)

Your right, still the numpad on the left is a start.
