I just bought a CM Storm Quickfire TKL with red switches (came in the mail today! Yay!) I also own 2 Filco MJ1 full sized keyboards with blue and brown switches.
Is it just me or the TKL keyboards feels so much more solid than the full sized keyboards? Does anyone else that has a full sized Filco and a TKL Filco that feel the same way about it?
When I try and bend the full sized Filco tiny creaking sounds come out. The Quickfire makes no sound. Assuming the full sized keyboard is heavier, as it should be, this would seem to follow Ripster's theory about weight and the quality of keyboards!
Side note about the Quickfire: Damn it feels and looks great (compared to my Filco). Too bad after touching the keys for about 5seconds I've concluded that Browns > Reds for me. Boooo. I really don't like how as you're getting close to bottoming out with the Reds, it feels like the force needed to get there is increased.

I agree about typing on reds. The browns feel lighter, probably because the reds don't get that little reprieve after you get past the tactile bump. According to the force diagrams, both browns and reds take the same amount of force at the bottom. However, that doesn't take into account the inertia of your finger/key. I think that is why the browns feel lighter.
I can get used to typing on the reds. Coming from a Model M, it is easy to just bash the keys down and get the feedback that way. But they are not the best. For gaming however, I like them a lot.
As far as durablility, I have a CM Storm with reds and a Rosewill with browns. Both feel similar in terms of quality. Maybe the creakiness of the Filco is just a matter of age?

Possibly, I just took our my 1 year old (though only used for 1 day blue switch) Filco and it doesn't creak as much as my browns which I have been using non-stop for nearly a year.
This just makes me want to buy another Filco TKL board even more. Grrr. Between hundreds of dollars in keycaps, hundreds more in keyboards, this is really burning a hole in my wallet.

Yes...I hate this forum. At least, my wallet does. *sigh*

The solution is to not do that.
Haha good point. I saw it done on some youtube video about some guy boasting about how well the Filco boards were built. I'm going to go eBay some random stuff to make up for some of these purchases!

That's what I was saying too: why do that?
