Title: Apple Keyboard HELP!
Post by: MyNameIsFinn on Thu, 01 March 2012, 20:25:05

I saw a keyboard that looked very similar to that in class today, the only exception was that the apple was at the left hand of the keyboard

It was sitting next to a Macintosh Classic...

I really want this keyboard A LOT, I need to know what it is called, what switches it uses and if it is compatible with windows.

Please help

I'm not a Mac expert, but looks like an Apple Keyboard II, has Alps switch. I think you can use it on PC if you get an ADB to PS2 converter. They are on ebay for under $20 pretty regularly.

I said it was the exception that the apple logo was on the left hand side and there was no top thing like the one in the picture had.

Pretty sure it's also Alps, and same with ADB to PS2 for pc. Might want to wait on a word from one of the more knowledgeable Alps / Apple folks. But these are usually fairly inexpensive on ebay too.

I have bought and sold a couple of these on ebay in the last 6 months. I don't think I got more than about $15 for them.

If I remember they have pink Alps and feel pretty good.

And yes, you are going to need an ADB-to-USB adapter, which are WAY too hard to come by. Apple orphans and ignores its offspring very quickly.

Yes, orange (or pink) ALPS. Nice smooth slightly tactile switch. The M0115 Apple Extended Keyboard has the same switches in a regular full-size layout.
