Title: Filco TK Pad!
Post by: captain on Sun, 04 March 2012, 09:24:41
This would be a great addition to a TenKeyLess Filco!   [strike] I don't find the in the USA, alas. [/strike]

Found it!

There is a TKPad company out of Texas; GoldTouch. I wonder which is better.  They have a Mac and a Windoze version, but aside from an extra key, and different codes sent, I can't get a straight answer from them.

IIRC, in the buying guide wiki once listed a Goldtouch/Kinesis Numpad rebrand, infact it is a generic with no branding one.
It is quite cheap(around 15/20 USD, not too sure) and being sold by an ebay seller from Hong Kong.
Though, the listing seems to be expired, not sure if there still anyway to get them this cheap.

The GoldTouch uses MX Browns, I believe. I asked if they could do Blues, and never heard back from them. :-P

I do come across GoldTouch Numpad with MX black when I surfing through taobao for 2nd hand junks. That should mean that they existed.
Though I do feel that they(black) are on the rare side as most of them are browns.

I have the exact same one that you show from the China website.  It has the brown switches and I do use it to compliment my Filco TKL with reds.  Really wish the number pad also had the reds but it serves the purpose.  If I remember correctly I bought my Filco TKL on amazon and the number pad from The Keyboard Company.

I had a goldtouch, it had MX blacks. In my opinion neither is better, but the Kinesis is. Yes it is technically the exact same thing as the goldtouch, but with one nice difference, a 2 unit 0 key. Much easier to use all those leftover Cherry numpad keysets:thumb:

'I guess "seventeenkeyless" just doesn't have the same ring to it.  I'm voting the acronym be supplanted by "SKL", if only because there are so many other acronyms with which to confuse hapless readers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SKL).  For example, are you buying a harmless keypad peripheral, or Kaiser Wilhelm's entire naval admiralty?  These are the important questions in life.

Or "StKL", since there doesn't appear to be any Wikipedia entry with that letter combination.  It probably stands for something in German, though.

On the subject of numberpads/tenkeypads, this one isn't Filco but is it any good?  Their keyboards are listed in the buying guide so I guess it might be.

There is no direct note on the switch type it uses, but the description suggests Cherry MX Blues.  Their website also shows a picture of a numberpad with the keys removed, and Cherry MX Blue switches under.  The price is good so if nobody has used it, I might try it.

Isn't TK = Team Kill?

I wonder what's happening to the current generation of homo sapiens.

Well, just because it is in the WW Shopping Wiki doesn't mean it has my seal of approval.  I have all the Duckys and even Qpad in there.

The keyboards had so-so reviews.

I might have to take the leap of faith then!

Get the Addesso and the GoldTouch and do a comparison review!  :-)
