Title: Going to Vegas. Any known places for scavenging?
Post by: Jigo on Sun, 11 March 2012, 18:09:46
Making my way out to Vegas for my spring break vacation tomorrow, and I just got the idea of possibly hunting around for a good place to scrape up some vintage keyboards/caps/stems while I'm there. The town I live in is relatively barren of such places, so I thought this may possibly be a golden opportunity if anyone had any past experience to share. I'm searching for any sort of electronics recyclers, swap meets/flea markets, etc. that would be running or in business year round (or at least going on through this next week :P). If anyone happens to know where I could look from past experience, please let me know!

Just hope if I do find a swap meet or two, I have enough space in my luggage to bring it all home.

It's a gamble, but he might just win big.

I had A lot of fun out there last year. I didn't see any mechanical keyboards, but then again most strippers don"t keep those kinda things under their g-string.

Anyways good luck

Wow.... just wow. Thanks so much for posting this, haha. This sorta place is precisely the reason I posted this thread. The gf and I still have a lot of time to fill with things to go see and do, and this looks amazing.

As for looking for old keyboards while in Vegas, why the hell not? The thing you seek is rarely the only thing you find in environments such as these. That's what makes em so fun. When I travel, I'd much rather go off the beaten path than hit up all the tourist-catered attractions. Vegas is a hell of a town, with far more to offer than the casinos and stripclubs. Granted, those are the common thoughts of Vegas for a REASON... but it's simply not what I'm going for ^^.

There's a huge undercity in the tunnels beneath Vegas where a search may prove fruitful.  Best come prepared, though; not exactly a vacation hotspot.

Also, I'm not very easily creeped out, but this meta-forum friendsposting spree KL is going on is making my teeth itch.

I stuck to drinking and gambling when I went to Vegas in 2010. Worst vacation ever. I'd go back to look for keyboards, though.

Stay away from the vodka footballs. I don't know why we thought those were a good idea...
