This is serious. Ripster deserves some kind of reward for all the hard work and effort he puts into helping our furtherment of knowledge. Okay, some of his wording and reactions are possibly unwise, but aren't we ALL foolish and proud at times? Ripster is my friend, and he doesn't owe one single one of us a solitary second of his time... so... ripster, dude... we love you man!
If I can be forgiven my human weaknesses, anyone else can. Rippington - where DO you learn all this stuff? Do you, like me, just get the urge and pull things to bits, then take photos? That's me all over. Always done so, always will. I absorb any kind of techy knowledge like a sponge (just don't bore me with the latest Apple gadgets - WAY too predictable... and apps are VERY 2008).
So, what are we going to give Ripster for his hard work? I think something tangible and nice for him... what would you like, Ripster?
Bless you man! :)
PS: I've started to compile a booklet, entitled "The Ripipedia keyboard factlets". I'm showing you the cover of the pre-print edition:

People need to show ripster some light. A lot of folks have benefited from his work but respond with hate and jealousy. People take the internets too seriously.

That's why I started this post. I have the habit of taking online issues to heart. You'll NEVER win an internet "argument", unless you walk away laughing at the sillyness of it all.

Hate bait where you @ /KL lol

I'd give ripster a metal but he already HAS a lot of nickels.
Also given his "#1" fascination I'd say he's spent too much time around lead.
-
I say we give him a plague!
-
This is a genuine sentiment. If you mock it, you mock in vain.
-
I agree.
+1 for rippy!

^ This, plus what it this'es

You should try this on deskthority, since they love you there. Chances are you're going to get a different response.

I say we give him the plague!
Yeah, same one we gave Melissa! =D

Already done. Thus far, the only person showing a genuine, forgiving and accepting nature to me is ripster. That's part of the reason for this. I didn't do it for a response, I did it to show ripster that I greatly value and cherish his hard work. Anyone of like mind and of decency will concur, and if they don't, well that's for them to decide. Personally, I like him and his kindness.

It's really far up there, isn't it.
-
Yeah, same one we gave Melissa! =D
Maybe we could get SP to fabricate the plaque for him, but can we get the sprue marks in the back, and fix the kerning, please!? It is ripster, not ri p ster.
-
What's with the sock puppet btw? That plus "I love him" screams creepy.

I'm in favor of giving him the plague not a "plaque". lol :heh:

Why do you concern yourself with it? It's not for you to judge. I do love him - I love my fellow man.

You could propose to him on geekhack and then have a ceremony right here too..

Okay, I'll propose right now:
Ripster, I propose to be your friend, to respect you and to value your contributions to the furtherment of knowledge. You're a good man, thank you.
Cheers! :)

I, too, have learned a lot from this dude. His monumental efforts have provided great value to people all over the world.
He has a lot to be proud of, and might well be one of the, if not actually the, most knowledgeable persons around when it comes to keyboards, but that #1 thing and voting is pretty pitiful. For example, how could someone who knows as little as me be competent to evaluate a true expert?
My boss thinks that I am a computer genius, but I would rate myself as no more than an "intermediate user" at best. I ask my 14-year-old daughter for help writing a Word document sometimes, and I was using Word before she was born!
Hence my refusal to vote in his silly poll, I am not qualified, and the results are certainly spurious.
But the important factor is the massive body of knowledge that he has created and donated to the world. For that, he really does deserve recognition.
Thanks, man. Really.
You know how to melt lead on your grill. Cast your own medal in any configuration you want, send it around, and we will all scratch our signatures on the back.

This thread is left as a thank you to ripster, but because of bitter and childish comments (as usual) I have closed it, but left it as a reminder as to my gratitude.
Thanks ripster! :D
