Title: dead Rosewill RK-9000RE w/ MX Reds as use for donor board for caps (also for sale)
Post by: njvz on Thu, 22 March 2012, 15:12:37
I have a Rosewill RK-9000RE with MX red switches- no keycaps on it, but I can throw on all the original caps from another black-colored board I don't use anymore. Basically, it's another of those Rosewills where the USB stopped working- maybe it just needs a resoldering on the mini-USB, maybe it's only good for a case and donor switches.

I wouldn't mind ClickClack keys, other cool keycaps, crappier (working) boards with preferably linear (another MX red board would rule) switches. I will also accept piddling amounts of cash. I honestly don't know what this board is worth in this status. Don't have original box. Warranty sticker is punched. Will upload pictures later tonight.

Shipping from Chicago.

Is a whole dead board for a cap or two is unreasonable? I really have no idea what the going rate is for CCs after sales happen, I just kinda wanna pretty up one of my boards finally (my only decorations are scrimscraws I've done on my IBM).

Well there was a group buy for switches which came to .57 cents per red switch (104 x .57=59.28), but people dont trade CC's unless it is for something rare and hard to come by. Desoldering those switches would take up some time and not everyone is comfortable with chopping up a keyboard which may further decrease the value to MAYBE 40-50. and CC's range between 30-100+ depending on the color(s) on the keycap. If I personally were to sell the board, I'd sell it between 30-50, but thats just me. No luck contacting Newegg about getting a replacement????

Ah, ok! Obviously I'm new here.

Yeah, in that case- I would definitely take any offers people had for the board, I wasn't expecting much for it anyways.

I read the Rosewill site and they said they only accept returns that have POP or was purchased directly from them. It was a gift, and was purchased from NewEgg. Also, like I said, warranty sticker is punched. :ohwell:

edit: The "OK" sticker on the back is the warranty sticker, right? If it's punched they won't take the return, right? I opened it up and then realized I have no confidence in my soldering abilities.

edit: my electrical engineer roommate just came back from germany and fixed it within 20 minutes with trusty solder gun. we all lose, sorry.

thanks for your time
