Title: Where to get PFU/HHKB wooden wrist rest?
Post by: mSSM on Sat, 24 March 2012, 05:54:57
I read the review on HHKB accessories in [1], and decided I need to get one of those PFU/HHKB wooden wrist rests. Now the question is: where from? So I wonder:
Apart from Japan, where can I get one of those wooden wrist rests from?

Dead link mate can't find it.

That's cause it's linking to our non-existent wiki

Just get a block of wood, cut it to the size you want, sandpaper and oil/paint it :) Takes few hours of work and gives hell lot of satisfaction :)

Well for anyone looking in the future: It looks like PFU discontinued the wooden wrist rest and replaced it with this Acrylic wrist rest:

Wood is actually a terrible material for a wrist rest.

Because the wrist is very bone-y. Sans morbidly obese fellers'.

They look good, but ultimately you need something "soft" ;D

I always tend to rest the end of my palms rather than my wrist proper on the rest and I absolutely hate anything soft for that.

As someone who wants to avoid carpal tunnel what is the best wrist contraption I could aim for?  I currently use nothing.

I think it's actually "nothing" while practicing good posture (keyboard at ~elbow level and not resting wrists/palms). Wrist rests are nice if you MUST set your wrists on something while typing on tall keyboards.

I use a 1U rackmount switch as a arm/wrist rest... works good.  ;D
