Do you ever feel the blue switch hysteria?
For those who don't know
When the activation point and the tactile point is different the distance between them is referred to as hysteresis.
Basically can you notice double tapping a key on a blue switch is harder?
-
I don't understand
-
I've recently switched to browns from blues. Never looking back.
-
I own both and have no real preference between the two for work/gaming.

Nope?
I prefer Reds to game on, but thats mostly to do with the noise, as opposed to the feel.
The clicking kind of breaks the immersion for me.
Other than that, Blues are fine with me.
-
Blues are fine for gaming, no issues at all for me. If you are super particular and NEED to slightly "ride" the key it could be a little iffy but I don't do that.
-
Blue switch hysteria? Sounds like a Victorian gynecological misdiagnosis.
Only issue I ever had with Blues and gaming is my Esc key would register as a double-tap for a while. I haven't needed to double-tap, though I do notice I have to raise the switch just a little bit beyond the tactile point to get it to register again.
In my experience, it was relatively easy to adapt to; however, Reds are still my favorite sons.
-
Nope never. Blues be fine.
-
Blues are fine but I do notice that sometimes a key input is registered twice. Probably a result of me holding the key down for too long.
-
I am interested to hear more opinions. Keep em comming! :)

I'll post more when I have more experience, but for now the keyboard has been really good for gaming. I have had no issue double tapping, but that may be because I installed o-rings right away before even testing the keyboard out.
Works well in fps and mmo scenarios for me. I am so incredibly excited about my new keyboard =D. Why are we still buying rubber dome and similar keyboards? *smh*
-
I just ordered my first mechanical keyboard and picked mx blues only because they were sold out of mx browns... I'm an avid gamer so hopefully I won't regret it.
-
I've played plenty of different kinds of games (recently HoN, Dota2 and ME3) on blues and I've never had a failed doubletap or anything due to this. I can feel the part where it's at but I've never had any accidents.
-
I use reds primarily, but blues are my 2nd favorite. I have no issues really, but as said if you like to ride the actuation point it becomes a little more effort, but it's still not a deal breaker. Reset is slightly slower than other switches due to the 2 piece design, but I don't see much of a negative impact from it. Coming from a primarily fast paced FPS gamer.

No problems at all here from gaming on blue switches. I recently put on o rings and it helps with the noise a bit, but after typing on them for a few weeks it's starting to feel.. odd. Difficult to describe but it feels a little like the keys are harder to press down and activate now, even though I don't think they are. Just feels that way. Other than that I'm fine with my blues for gaming :)
-
The word we're looking for is hysteresis, not hysteria. The former is a mechanical condition; the latter is what some people feel about those who experience the former.
I tend to find blue switches inadequate due to hysteresis only when changing daily between gaming on Cherry blues and typing on Cherry browns. When I'm not alternating with Cherry Browns, I stop riding the nasty point on Cherry blues. YMMV.

Switches for gaming: Red/Black > Blue > Brown
-
Switches for gaming: Red/Black > Blue > Brown
Eh Blues > All for me
-
I can't decide btwn blues and red at the moment. Its killing me because I want to like one more than the other.
-
Get both :heh:
-
Why choose? Just get one of each in every board, makes it easy.
-
Yeah, blues v. reds are not really comparable. They are totally different, so you prolly need to get both. They both work great for gaming, and neither is really better than the other, just whatever you happen to like more, and it can change from week to week or day to day. So both is the best solution. It's not the most economical solution, but then again this isn't CheapHack.org.

Blues are fine. Played everything from CS to DotA to SC2 and haven't had any issues with double tapping, repeated tapping, etc.
-
Ohhh that. Yeah when I game I pretty much always bottom out, its never affected me. I do kinda notice it if i press the key down slowly.
-
Personally I've been fine but I noticed that when my girlfriend types on my keyboard sometimes it happens to her, but she doesn't release all the way so the switch is like stuck past that first click/actuation point.
-
Never feel any hardship since I replaced all the blue springs with black springs from a deck (hell. . . it's just like grey springs).
-
The blues aren't bad for gaming. I switched to browns for almost everything though. They're the perfect switch for me.
-
For me blues work very well for gaming. You can really tell if you have actually pressed the key.
I switched to the blues from black switches. Definitely not going back to the linear ones.

I play SC2 with blues, I doubletap a lot. Works fine.
