A few days ago I ordered a used Dell monitor because it was cheap as hell (£100, when it retails for £280), there was another great deal the following day in which is was £25 for the same monitor.
It was supposed to arrive on the 27th with next day delivery, but tracking details show it arrived at the hub and then didn't move. Today I get a few e-mails saying they've received my returned item and that they've refunded my card.
What the hell is going on? Did they make a mistake and then take back the order when it was an hour from my house? This is ridiculous, I want my monitor :(.

That is crazy. Pretty sure if you called and complained you would get it at the price you originally paid

calling now...

just called, they told me it was damaged in shipping (yeah right), and the company sent it back to amazon (without informing me). amazon tells me they can't send another one out because they are out of stock and that they have refunded my order.
****ing amazon.

Wow... I'd be pissed to, you should ask for a similar item of the same price instead.
-
Probably not Amazon's fault they have really good customer service.

I wonder if I should be so bold to ask for a Dell U2410 for £100 (it is currently priced at £280) that is also in the Amazon Warehouse.

i don't believe amazon, inc. sells dell products. this must have been a third-party reseller, possible fulfilled by amazon. please direct your ire there.
-
it was a used monitor from Amazon's Warehouse deals (warehousedeals.co.uk)
-
oh you're in the UK? i see...
believe me, you don't want one with significant shipping damage. sorry about that, but warehouse deals are all pretty ymmv. they don't even really keep real-time stock for those.
-
i e-mailed them asking them to send me a used U2410 and i'd pay them £100. i doubt they'll fulfill it but it is worth a shot.

They might just be right about the damage.

got an e-mail this morning telling me that they won't do anything about it, i have my £98 and i should screw off.
They might just be right about the damage.
how would the courier know the monitor is damaged? they've have to open up the package to see that. just my luck, eh? the one time i find a great deal on a monitor it gets damaged in the mail.

They'd know it was damaged if it was speared or squashed flat. I've seen the pictures since our dept. ships a ton of stuff and somewhat regularly deal with this. It's amazing what a traffic accident can do to a FedEx/UPS truck.

This is amazon Europe,, right?? Amazon USA doesn't give a **** ,, they'll accept anything... Wh000t democratic
