Title: DOLCH Keycaps source
Post by: zzspectrez on Wed, 28 March 2012, 22:20:32
Hello all..

I am trying to find some dolch keycaps and I was wondering if this is one of the dolch machines people
are scavenging for the dolch cherry keycaps:

This is a Dolch FXPAC-PIII-600-XG portable Voice Quality Tester.

If so what do people think is a reasonable amount to pay for the keyboard?

Those are some of the most popular keys ever made. It depends on how bad you want them. Better pull one to make sure they are the cherry versions.

I was afraid of that. I jumped on an ebay auction for just the keyboard hoping it was the right one. Looks like I will be trying to sell back on ebay!

Oh well.. After searching around looks like the wanted keyboard are the ones without the trackpad.

It's my understanding that keycaps from ML boards have the same stems as MX, but the larger modifier keys have different stabilizers... though since this is an older board, it's hard to say without taking a look at it.

Not the same stems. MX has that cruciform stem that slots into the keycap, the ML key cap has fork-like prongs that slot into the switch's stem.

FYI, this is a much older Dolch board that was made by a Taiwanese OEM for many different older portable computers back in the 80s. It's got doubleshot keycaps, but they're obviously a different color scheme than those on the Cherry made Dolch boards.

Also, you might be confusing MY with ML. MY boards have MX compatible keycaps.

My mistake...I had them mixed up with the MY switches
