For the Microsoft Sidewinder, its a rubber dome that is nkro.
If you want a mechanical keyboard I would suggest a cherry red or if you are manly a cherry black.  Rosewill, cmstorm, or leopold are around 100 or less.

The quick fire rapid with reds seems like the best bang for your buck mech gaming keyboard right now.

There's nothing wrong with that keyboard.

Most of the recommendations you're going to receive from here is going to be a mechanical keyboard.  Staying within your budget ($100) and your chosen vendor (newegg), I'd say:
1.  Rosewill Mechanical Keyboard RK-9000BL or 9000RE

The coolermaster website is the only place to get a CMStorm Quickfire Rapid with Cherry MX Red switches (aside from a used one somewhere here).  This keyboard should run you about $100 with shipping.

If you're willing to buy from overseas, there's plenty of vendors here that can offer you mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX Black Switches for less than $100.
There's a guy stuck with a bunch of Poker X keyboards.  Go to the "Group Buy" section and find him and take one of the ones with Black switches off his hands.

I would also suggest one of the previously mentioned keyboards with MX Red or MX Black switches. It's really down to personal preference, but a lot of people (including myself) think that they're the way to go for FPS games in particular. The Rosewill, Quickfire Rapid, Leopold, and Poker are all quality boards and should be in your budget.

I can hear his friend now..."You idiot, why did you get that? It doesn't even have lights, or macro keys!"

Don't be seduced by game branding, nor the epithet "gamer" attached to some overpriced piece of crap that'll blow on you within 3 months (not like that, you idiots).

Logitech dome keyboards don't last over time and feel like pounding your fingers into a wall.  I was in your situation a few years ago before I discovered Unicomp.

Consider getting a buckling spring keyboard from them, or, as mentioned, a CMStorm Quickfire of some sort.  Rosewill distributes very solid boards as well.  Check the Great Deals forum.

If after seeing and using the Poker X they still feel like this... bring your friends to GH.  We'll straighten them out...

As a gamer in many genres. I love having my "GG" macro, and my Pause->"G"->"T"->'"F"->"O"->Unpause macro. Gamers like that ****. The lights is just for decoration and I still like them.

But anyone who decides to use a Rubber Dome over a Mechanical need to be put down. BlackWiddow users too, depending on situation.
