I bought this on eBay a few months ago because I thought it looked interesting. It's completely unusable. The keys are flat and they are over common rubber domes. I just thought I'd post pics for novelty's sake.

Damn, you've only been here a couple of months and have already amassed a pretty vast collection. Well done.

Here is the wooden keyboard that you want.

That is nicer looking than my "bamboo" keyboard and mouse set, but mine is usable as a set for a little used server. :-)
Plus, I like my layout. Ten Key UnLess?

It is bemusing how sometimes I can upload pics to geekhack, yet other times I only have the Tapatalk site option.

Yes, I like yours better, too. That's a nice layout. You get compact and keep the ten key. That wouldn't happen to have mechanical switches, would it? Cherry Browns would be awesome. There is a guy on eBay selling high end hand carved wooden keyboards with Cherry MX switches, for $999.00. They are nice looking, though. Just search for wooden keyboard.

Rubber domes, but not as bad as many. I have a fantasy of swapping out for CherryMX Blues, but I'm happy enough with my Filcos that it'll probably never happen. I'm much more interested in developing a USB-Bluetooth HID box to turn ANY of my keyboards into Bluetooth. That project is gargantuan though. Unless I get some talented EE types to help, it'll not happen either. :-P

Transforming standard USB keyboards to bluetooth, really isnt that hard of a challenge ...
Some basics in electronics, and some decend programming skills, and its done in a few days + another few days for testing/debugging on different OS's, which is really going to be the longest part.

Well, I've satisfied most of my cravings. I have to come up for air now fow a while. I do still want a White Filco TKL wit Blues and a Filco Zero with Alps switches. Crap, in May the Realforce 10th Anniversary Edition is coming. Okay, I'm done. I'm wondering about the Leopold LC700R though. It comes in three colors. :help: :noidea:
Oh, I really, really need a bluetooth HHKB! Someone has alread done it. I want a kit. (got a bluetooth Filco :-D)

These keyboards are giving me a woody. :mullet:

Those are a lot of keyboards lol megnin

How about a keyboard made of wood, that uses Cherry MX switches (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Custom-Made-Cherry-Wood-Keyboard-Cherry-Mechanical-MX-/130328228244?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item1e582af194). No doubt everyone's seen it before, but it's the next step up in the spending ladder after HHKB.
For $999 I'd expect more pizazz though ... they're not up to Datamancer's standards of design. You don't even get a redwood escape key ...
-
In yet another strange turn on eBay last fall, I picked up a simplified ALPS based keyboard with a heavy, CNC machined wood case. Makes the eBay Cherry keyboard look like a 99 cents store special.
-
OP you paid $1000 for the wooden keyboard? saw some on ebay that are wooden and were going for 1G... if you really spent that much money on a keyboard you my man are a freak!!!!!!!!!

If you don`t mind me asking, how much have you spent in keyboards?

I think the more relevant question is: how does he survive? with that amount of amazing boards i would get stuck in an endless limbo of trying to choose wich one to plug in, i would just walk around my house and stroke and gently push those buttons until i eventually died of starvation because i forgot about food. The boards would simply be too distracting.

More realistic question: what the heck does he need with 7 Filco TKLs?

maybe hes making a table out of them? turn them upside down and you can serve dinner on it then later flip it back again for some after dinner keyboard jamming. he should have the whole cherry note-range there for a complete band.
