Title: Old cherry G80

Hey,
Im new both to these forums and to the mechanical keyboard market, though ive been lurking around reading some resources here on the site.
Anyway, today I managed to pick up an old cherry mechanical keyboard but i'm not sure it'll work with my PC. So before I drop some money on an adapter I was wondering if anyone knew how it performs as I cannot find this exact model online anywhere.
Under each keycap is what looks to be a cherry black switch. It's totally black and has a little A on the bottom left corner. The output connection is an old 5-pin male DIN connector

The camera was really blurry here as I just took it on my old mobile phone. The artical number is "G80-1134   HAX /01"

I really dont know what this is at all

Deepest apologys for the terrible photo quality. This phone cannot do close ups.... or far away.
Also, this is the UK layout if that matters.

it also has this weird switch system on the back im not sure what it's for. Couldnt put it in the first post because of a URL limit.

What is the model number? I can not see it clearly in the picture. G80-1134HAD?

The switch on the back should switch between XT and AT protocol. When the switch is in the right configuration you should need only a simple AT - PS/2 adapter. Those are cheap. You could also replace the cable, but that would require soldering.

Close; the model number reads G80-1134 HAX. Serial number reads 9613 A30. That picture really is so bad it's pointless.
Thanks for the advice on the switch system on the back, guess I ought to order an adapter from ebay

Well I finally managed to pick up an adapter (5-pin DIN to ps/2) but  I cant get this thing to work at all. When plugged into windows it shows no sign of life at all. When the PC is booted up with it plugged in the motherboard gives a continuous, rapid string of beeps akin to if I hold down a key on a standard keyboard. Ive tried all the possible switch combos and still no luck. Anyone got any advice for this, or is this keyboard a dead one?

Might require a reboot.. I have a similar board (G80-1000 HAD) and mine is set with both switches in the down position.
Try that setting and then reboot.. worth a try :)

It worked! Can't thank you enough. The first time I tried rebooting it was with the switches in the up position and it just made the PC go bonkers
