Seen this?
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/02/23/apple_wants_to_reinvent_keyboards_making_them_even_thinner.html
Looks like it's even crapier than the current ones!
-
...making them even thinner
this is their motto, with everything
-
Is that pretty much same as those plastic membrane keyboards?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Membrane_keyboard Does the picture have any similarity?
-
Yeah it indeed looks like the old 8 bit Atari, which was the worst keyboard I touched :D
-
Aren't their single support arms just a copy of the arms used in typewriters and telegraphs?
-
I, for one, have always desired a keyboard that used the same sort of buttons that microwaves use!
-
Thats very funny, the microwave comment. Hey maybe it could beep at you when you pressed buttons too!

I do not understand the Apple craze. They seem anti-computer and instead of being user friendly, they are anything but.

You must be a COBOL programmer.

Apple is the heart of bad business. They've got it down to a science. Their goal is to put everyone out of business eventually. And in the meantime, they've built a strong following that will, literally, love whatever they release without question.

That sounds like pretty damned good business to me.

The goal of any public company is to increase value for the shareholders. Apple has done this better than any company on Earth. In that sense, it is very good business.
Jobs always said it was his goal to make great products, that's it. It seems people actually wanted great products instead of cheaper and cheaper products... or just the same old thing over again. Can you really blame people for wanting an iPhone over a Palm Treo in 2007? Or a MacBook Air over a Netbook?
They've had a few misses over the years. The AppleTV is still just a hobby project. The Apple HiFi didn't last long. The puck mouse with the G3 iMac was awful. Jobs and Ive really were able to hit a lot of home runs though. When you don't make a lot of different products, the ones you do make better be good.

Problem with Apple sometimes is form over functionality and the fact they aren't as free as others. I prefer to mess up with my stuff and pay bare minimum mark-up...

To me it sounds like you're describing Microsoft ! Actually Microsoft is even worse, taking open protocols and then twisting their implementation to introduce incompatibilities with other systems on purpose.

Oh I dislike Microsoft as much as I do Apple. However, Microsoft has kind of already moved out of the realm of relevancy. They did this in their hayday, but they've since fallen from the superpower they once were.

yeah, it really looks like the "keys" you could have on a freezer or fridge or any other thing

That's a really stupid amount of key travel, designed for people sucked into this current iDevice & touchscreen obsession. Nice for RSI though... many doctors paid Apple to design this, to up their bottom line.
This isn't "progress", this is fashion dictated crap.
I'll stick to my Model M, thanks all the same though.

I understand that "haters gonna hate". But what's with all the conspiracy theories??

I am that choir, and I say ENOUGH! I was an Apple fanboy LONG before it was "cool" and "hip". Over the last decade, my patience has worn thin. I have had it up to my ears with Apple's crapPLE. I allowed myself to get sucked in to all things Apple a long time ago, but I am finally giving up on them ever getting their heads out of their asses, and allowing us to do with OUR toys what we want.
That said, I sit here with a Gen1 iPad, and a new Camera Connector Kit (well, I had a store credit, so figured I'd better spend it while I still have crApple products), attached to my Wildcats BS keyboard, merrily typing away. Brother ripster was right! If you just ignore the "You cannot use that crap on your Apple iPad!" warning, it just works.
Now, to test it with the HHKB. That will be a killer combo! Which will be even better when it's Apple free! I wonder if you can run Unix on an iPad.....
