Title: Need buying a mechanical keyboard for the first time
Post by: twilek on Fri, 06 April 2012, 00:10:58
I need help finding a mechanical keyboard. Here is the list of things I'd be look for in a board.
-Available at a trusted vendor (I'm just a little paranoid)
-Cherry mx brown or red switch
-backlighting if possible
-good build quality (I mean how much piss and monkey hair can a keyboard take before it breaks)
-TKL (tenkeyless for that weird troll that goes about everywhere) standard layout would work
-any keycap type but padprinted (stickers dont react well to piss)
I'm actually not to knowledgeable on this topic so any info on your suggestion would be much obliged. So yah, thanks ahead of time.

Where are you located.

It would help determine where/what you can buy.

CMStorm Quickfire with Reds for a numpadless model; Rosewill RK-9000RE for a full-sized Reds model.  I'm typing on the latter right now, and the keys still feel great; smooth like butter.

Also, virtually every day, we get about five other topics asking the same thing.  There's a great wiki that covers everything you need to know up top; it's the first one when you click the Wiki tab.

Also the Rosewill's (and all other KB's) are on sale at NewEgg w/ a code.  You need to be signed up the NewEggs deal newsletter for it to work - EMCNFND98.  Use shoprunner for free shipping.
