Title: IBM Model M "1395985" for sale, with SDL to PS/2: *PRICE DROP* @ £35
Post by: 1395985 on Thu, 12 April 2012, 21:54:28
Right. I tried to sell this before, but the thread had a tendancy to attract bitterness, trolling and general negativity, from those who were unable to resist caving in to judgemental behaviour. Let me make this ABUNDANTLY CLEAR, so there is not one iota of ambiguity about this thread:

1/ This is a SALES thread, not somewhere to bicker, taunt and act holier than thou. If you wish to deride me, do it inside the confines of your mind.

2/ I am selling an IBM Model M keyboard, part No 1395985, mint condition, with SDL to PS/2 type cable. It is in ORIGINAL condition, with ORIGINAL green LEDs, nothing altered whatsoever. Everything works (everything: the clue is the word itself).

3/ This keyboard will be sold for £35 + £10.50 P&P, payable by PayPal upon agreement of purchase.

You may view this actual keyboard here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22008695@N03/sets/72157629719769363

Please be aware of the facts: I *will not* tolerate aggressive, sarcastic, supercillious or otherwise negative comments. I am offering a classic IBM product at an astonishingly good price, fully tested and deep cleaned to perfection. If you wish to attempt to engage me for matters concerning issues of egotistical issues in your character, you WILL BE reported immediately, without warning or notice. For any budding detectives in here, yes, I once WAS under the username "glossywhite", but since I caused problems partly of my own making, I opened a new account in an attempt to put that side behind me, and start afresh, NOT to "hide" (seriously, I'm 37 - I have better ways to waste time, and internet "threats" and gossips don't phase me).

Thanks guys. This board is an amazing buy at a good price. These fetch upwards of £65-70 on eBay, without fail. Feel free to ask any questions immediately pertinent to the sale or condition/function of this keyboard. Should this become an ego battleground, the thread will be locked and you will *all* lose the chance to purchase an immaculate IBM Model B, 1991 vintage.

Thank you so much! :-)

### NOTE: If this board doesn't sell by 12:00 midday, Tuesday 17/04/2012, I shall be reverting the price to £60, or removing this item from sale, whichever I deem best. ###

Basicly he wanted to hide his past where he persistantly trolled everyone over at DT.

Thread reported for duplication.

To be fair on the guy (not that I should be) they go for a lot more in the UK than they do in the US.

I am glad to see Model M prices going up, since I will have at least a couple to sell sometime in the next few months.

Last fall, I had an immaculate bolt-modded blue label that took a month and a half to sell, starting at $100 and eventually going for only $50.

But, maybe they are much more dear in the UK, although I have to say that my one Greenock 42H turned out to be a dud.

Price drop (again). This is silly low... £35. Either it sells before tomorrow, or I am gonna eBay it for a LOT more, next week.

Sorry for my silly question, but i'm a complete noob. what is the difference between this keyboard being sold in this thread and for example this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1992-IBM-Model-M-Clicky-PS-2-Keyboard-1391401-Cable-/200742442892?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item2ebd2e978c#ht_3870wt_952

The poster is from the UK (I'm guessing) and the board he is selling is ISO layout. The one you linked to is ANSI layout. From what I understand, Model M boards go for more in the UK than in the US as they aren't as common. I remember reading somewhere that the 'made in the UK' Model M boards are considered more collectable by some people as there weren't as many made as the US ones.

TL;DR- the main difference is the layout- ISO vs ANSI

How do you do that without an eBay account??

This is a UK board, made in the UK, with a UK layout. It's really not difficult to work out. If you don't want it, don't comment please - you're just making this unnecessarily hard work.

If you want to split hairs, you can go on eBay and pay a premium to do so. This is pocket money price.

If you want it, buy it. If you don't, find another thread to be pedantic on.

Thanks.

So I thought I'd help out and answer his question. Personally, I don't want your keyboard (ANSI for me) so I guess I shouldn't have commented?

GLWS, but you are a strange one.

Don't assume people don't want to buy the board just because they are asking questions. It would be like assuming people have eBay accounts.

End.

Putting price back up to £60 tomorrow afternoon.
