Title: where to buy blank brown caps for filco?
Post by: FinancialWar on Sun, 15 April 2012, 21:07:17
hello, I am getting the Camo edition of filco 104, I saw pictures of this board with blank brown caps and it look great (can't find the thread though). I wonder where can I get this particular keycaps?

Brown?  Have you tried WASD Keyboard?  They do custom keycaps there...  unless you have some pictures of these brown keycaps you mentioned. =P

I've not seen brown, in either ABS or PBT new... i know there was a coffee and cream SP set talked about a while back, not sure if it went anywhere.  i've seen some old school double shots in brown, but that's about it.

Asides from dying PBT brown, I have no idea... I have 2 sets of Cherry doubleshots in brown shades. One is from a Commodore branded Cherry G80-499 which are tan/dark beige with black legend, the other was from some mystery board which were coffee on cream.
If you aren't keen on dying you might have a look for some of those Cherry.

There are lot of exciting PBT colours that WASD is releasing soon, though I didn't see Brown among them. Perhaps if there is enough interest, he will be able to add them to the colour options, as it's still "tentative".

Other than that, the best bet would be doing a custom order via SP, or dying them.

it would appear (although with thin not thick PBT) that qtan is going to offer custom PBT dying.  That might be one route.  Check this thread out: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?30346-Now-coming-104-custom-caps-set.  My assumption is that since they're going to offer any color other than black, they'll start with a white key, laser it, and then dye it.
