Title: just got a reply from LEOPOLD about FC700R
Post by: dogbirds on Mon, 16 April 2012, 20:26:57
I asked a question if leopold has a plan to release in u.s.
and they said they do have a plan but the release date is not decided yet.
In my opinion, the release date will be around July, cuz leopold still has a lack in korea, which means it may delay the release date in us.
do u guys think fc700r is really worth the wait?

the wording in that is pretty vague. it could mean a couple of months for all we know.
also, not really too excited. who keeps the stock keycaps on now a days =S
i like their fc200 line up with roundy corners

What I'd really like to know is, are they going to release a tenkeyfull version with PBT keycaps?

Not excited.  I'm saving my nickles for a Filco with Reds.

I've honestly never been "that" excited for anything besides dinner.

Someone already asked same question on leopold site, and they said full-sized version will be considered after selling tenkeyless ones. but for now, there is no plan to sell full-sized version.

Thanks for the post. Well, that's a pity. I like tenkeyless boards, but there are some use cases where a full-sized board is still better.

Is there no hope for MX Clears? I remember they weren't shown on the product pictures just blue, brown, black, and red.

I was thinking about going Filco but I'm very pleased with my Leopold. The only thing I like more about Filcos is the sharper case so the new 500 cases ought to suit me just fine :)

The only thing on the new Leopolds that I'm jealous of is that the new white case actually looks white!
Aw, bummer. I like beige. Goes better with my Wyse keycaps.

There is mx clear version of fc200r in korea, but mx clear version of fc700r is not on their site.

I'm newer to mechanical boards, so I'm not sure if I'd notice the difference between a Leopold and Filco feel-wise when typing. I'm not really sure what to look for in a keyboard in that regard. All I know is that the Filco Ninja MJ2 with browns that I'm typing on as I'm writing this feels amazing.

The only reasons I went with it over a Leopold was the round case of the Leopold. I think it makes the board look vintage and I really like the sharpness of the Filco case. I would have strongly considered buying the FC700R if the Leopold was anywhere near the quality of a Filco, which I've yet to experience for myself.

Now if only they'd make their spacebars with the proper spacing.  Or at least made all of their space bars with the same spacing as other Leopolds......

Yes it is.

I've attached two images.
First image shows 4 colors of mx switches.

brown(non-click)
blue(click)
red(linear)
black(linear)

And someone had already asked about mx clear version, and leopold said the demand is too low, so mx clear is excluded from their production for now.
but no one can know about the future. If people keep asking, mx clear may be added later.

Is that price in SKW? If so, it converts to about $111...not too pricey!

The spacebar is totally different. not even fit other leopold's.

I should be getting one in about 3 weeks :P I'll do a review on it and maybe auction it off depending on whether or not I like it. I'm getting it with browns seeing as I haven't tried em yet so we'll see! In my opinion though I just feel like it'll be similar to a CM Storm Qfire minus the costar stabilizers, but with PBT caps.

Honestly, who makes these decisions....

Well I'm glad Filco is making a TKL with reds. Looks like I won't have to consider leopold anymore.
