I saw someone post a picture in a keycap thread that had a pretty cool headset stand. I sit here day in day out putting my headset down on my desk and the cable constantly drags my g35's off the desk and onto hard carpet.
Suggestions on a nice/cheap headset rack?
The idea of building my own out of legos like the guide above says is actually a pretty ****ing cool idea, figuring i have enough legos to hobbyist all of africa.
Edit: SORRY miss-clicked the wrong forum. This was meant for the accessories subforum. :(

The pictures you likely saw where Eric Barneys work. He has retired from making headphone stands and wrist rests.

Cheap? Nope...but this one is nice:

The clear acrylic one is obviously a cheap China knockoff.

I just use this http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Headphone-Holder/dp/B003T1CWU8
came with my 555s. Works just fine, the only diff is that it hangs off the side of the desk.

I just put a large enough binder clip on the side of my desk and thats where I hang my ath-ad700. works perfectly.
-
i use a 3m wall hook, of course i'm right next to a wall, and my ath-ad700 is not a strap but 2 loops and it fits perfectly on the 3m wall hook, like 2bucks. I'm sure you can also hang it on the side of your monitor. I use 3m double sided tape and hang 2 speakers on my monitor, i'm sure you can tape a simple wall hook to the side of one.

Woo Audio sells one for about $30, and they also have a double stand on their website. http://www.wooaudio.com/products/wahps.html
Looks pretty good

After lurking this site for quite some time, coming across this thread made me just have to register. I love my audio equipment and have a super soft spot for my current headphone stand.
My digs (http://dribbble.com/system/users/90577/screenshots/388736/adult_swim_nine_campaign_1.jpg?1326817807)
I found this guy when the company I work at decided to clean out a whole bunch of workstations that were empty. I actually took two and gave one as a present to a friend. Inside the egg is a pouch with a sweet set of wooden sunglasses and a patch as well as some papers with logos and some literature. I was able to find that it was from an old promotion that Adult Swim did, and being that my company has AS as a client, it made sense.
In addition to this I have another other pairs hanging from a flat piece of metal I have under some books on a shelf above my desk. The metal sticks out off the shelf about 4 inches allowing me to hang my tinkering headphones.
tl;dr: Just be imaginative. Anything will work if the headphones sit nice on it without causing them strain.
edit: Stereophonic - I dig the avatar, Bassnectar is one of my favorites. Puts on an awesome show and is a super great guy to talk to.

i use the large 3m command strip hooks for my headphones. they just go up on the wall

I use a glass mannequin head. Not only is it awesome looking, but I can talk to it when I feel lonely.

I use the Sennheiser HH10 and the Astro's. I probably wouldn't buy the Astros again (too low for some big headphones, causes cable to drag on table), but they have a nice profile. Senns are pretty handy - clamp rotates 90 deg, so you can clamp it to vertical surfaces too, and I have a few of these.
