This is the official order thread for the Alien Group Buy this Cherry MX key will be a Row 1 key (Numbers for F keys) I have gotten initial approval from Melissa and price quotes below. I would like to skip the whole IC and start orders. If we do not make 50, I will cancel the GB.

All Prices are PRELIMINARY; Higher volumes lower prices, lower volumes raise prices. All keys are priced via volume individually but for now expect the following prices:

[strike]100 keys $1.89 / each [/strike]

** $45 for the new legend fee is baked into these prices!!
Shipping:
I am NOT responsable for damaged keys after I QC them after receiving them. PLEASE choose your shipping wisely.

$4.50 via Bubble Mailer
$6 via Priority Mail (Might be required for high amount of keys in the order)
Canada:
$6 via Bubble Mailer

Either that or he's hoping for 50 orders and then he covers the other 100 orders.

I am saying that assuming we get to 50 and the group buy is a go (don't think we should have any trouble doing that) the order will be at least 150 keys. I will take the risk on the remaining keys.

Of those two, I much prefer VBQ. But to be honest, I think VAT would make for a better key. Bright and sharp.

Is our Alien going to be nostril-less? Did Haz make up that mockup and say they are ok? Too me they look too small for then to make.
anyways, is there a price tier between 250 & 500 that you want to make it too? I'm getting a strange feeling to buy keycaps from this thread for some reason....:alien:

I made the SVG and had it approved by Melissa at SP. The nostrils will be there and they are .013 inches in size which is the minimum cutter size, but in reality it is not the nostrils getting cut, but rather the alien face so the cutter just needs to get around the nostrils.
There are no price breaks between 250 and 500.

Technically, if everybody orders the right number of keys, the total price of the order stays the same, while everybody gets more keys.
But since keys are undivisable and this has to be a joint effort, it's hard to pull off.

That not really true since the price drop will be about 25% not 50%.

Not true... Anything more than 348 keys costs the same as 500+ keys, ignoring the fees since I'm lazy.

Since we are at 394 keys, shouldn't we just order 500 keys since it would be cheaper? 394 keys @ $1.03 each is $405.82, but 500 keys @ $.74 each is $370.
So by my maths:
(405.82 - 370) / 405.82 = 0.0882657336
500 / 394 = 1.26903553
In theory, we should be able to get 26.9% more keys and pay 8.8% less.

I see your math but we can't cut keys in to 26.9% and divvey them up. When group buys are open, you are welcome to rally the troops to buy more, but when they are closed and people are paying, they are closed.

that's what we suggested a few posts above. So*OP is already aware of the situation.
But keys are non divisible (you can't make somebody order 3.5 keys instead of 3 keys). And it's a hassle to make everybody order more. And if I look at my invoice, It's already cheaper than the basic price, and this price includes the paypal fees. And if we have to do everything again, it will only make things worse and will take more time and energy.
So my suggestion is, let OP*make his little magic, and just pay what you are asked to pay.

That is as "toxic" as we could go on the green, if you look back in the thread, they were out of our first choice. Melissa's camera is terrible though so I think it will be ok.
I don't see what you mean on the eyes, but the nostrils are a little big bigger, that was a design change that needed to happen to hit the minimum cutter size. Keep in mind this is going to be half or even smaller in person than as pictured.

Wow those actually came out looking really good. Looks a tad right of center but I think the light reflection on the left side of the key exaggerates the positioning a bit. Can't wait to recieve these.

I'm very happy with these. They are a hair off center, but I started looking at other keys from SP and noticed they are a hair off center too.
Example:

Bottom line, unless your looking for it, you don't really notice it.
