Title: Keycool 87 vs Ducky 1087
Post by: kaen on Tue, 24 April 2012, 04:42:34
So like the title, which is better for the money? I've heard lots of good things about the Keycool and the Ducky is well known to have quality issues. I've tried neither so can anyone who has tried both add some input?

I'm looking for a well made cheap board for a friend.

I don't know about the prices of those keyboards at the place where you're from, but if you're going for a Ducky 1087 you might as well go for CM Storm Quick Fire Rapid. I believe it's better quality than Ducky 1087 for around the same prices. But then again I'm not sure about the prices for you.

Fish don't live in the water, either.

Both have QC issues, between the two I would choose Ducky though.

Is there a reason these two are your only options? There are better well made cheap boards out there. You might have to spend $20 more bucks but it would go a long way.

Why don't you go with a Leopold 200R? So far it's a bit better than Keycool 87. Take it before it's gone. The newest 700R sucks. Awful PBT keycaps, and most likely it's OEM by Keycool. For now, the 200R is made in Taiwan, not sure which manufactory though.

I just got a Ducky 1087 with Green Alps switches and I like it.  It's not as pretty as a Filco but I didn't notice any problems with it.  I did really like the Green Alps though.
