I do want to keep it straight forward, simple and as inexpensive as possible. It will be doubleshots done with SP stock font, standard upper left position. It will be only available in ANSI 90 set following modern standards for keysizes. This means it will be made to fit typical Filco, Leopold, Ducky, etc.

Seems like it'll only take ~47 min by train, but its $4.50 for a ride back and forth on the MTA. So i might as well eat the shipping costs unless I can find someone who'll lend me their monthly metrocard :D

Though if the pics turn out really nice, then i'll definately make my way there just to get them super early lol.

Looking more into this in the IC thread I also found captain's pic which seems to be more natural/dim light. This is what my office and home computer room are like light-wise with shades down and a 60 watt bulb or two. Keys always look much brighter when I buy them on here vs seeing them in person on a day-to-day basis.

I got a response back from SP about getting a Prototype done. It will cost $65 for 1 prototype using RCR(pink) on VBV(teal). This will help everyone get a better idea of how the color combo will work.

If anyone would like to chip in to help cover a small part of the prototype fee it would be greatly appreciated.
For every person that helps with this fee I will give them 1 Red on White GeekHack...

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but I don't see how throwing money at a single prototype is going to help anything.  It still has to go through the digitizing process (taking pictures) and colors never translate well, so it'll still be a single person's (boost's) call, and we already have the color chips, so that call should have already been made...  It just seems like a waste of money to me; money better spent on making sure that SP doesn't screw up any of their usual things to screw up on.  Also, I'd insist, from now on on all SP buys, that they take extra care to mitigate the visibility of the frontal sprue marks.  That's the biggest annoyance with SP caps IMHO--followed by a laundry list, but y'all know all about that, right?  ;-)


boost: I'm pretty sure that SP is closed Fri-Sun.  You'll be waiting until Monday, at least... and Sunday is Mother's day, so if Melissa is a mother, she may take Monday off to recover.

Well, the Koreans managed to get a fantastic set out of SP.  Maybe we need to enlist their help?  ripster seems to have a pretty good grasp of how they did it.  Let's put him in charge of all SP coördination from now on!  ;-)

As Melissa and others have expressed concerns about, we want to see the contrast between the two colors (key cap vs legend) as it would look on an actual key. A few people were willing to shell out a couple bucks each to find out before a bunch of people shelled out $50+ each and got upset it wasn't what they envisioned. Each person who chose to donate did it knowing it was just that.

I also trust boost's eye in person as he did not lead us astray with his opinion on the SHS colors "in person".

I'm hoping for the best because I need me some brightness.

I hope people get interested in this set again. I can see wallets being stretched thin with all the other group buys going on, but who cares about being broke so long as we have this set? Nobody, that's who.

The $45x2 is the new legend fees for the special modifiers. Modifiers will.be teal on pink just like the pic in op. Well will close 1 week after he hit 50 sets.

Boost will be adding the legend fee later. I am guessing the legend fee will add $3.6 to all orders at 25 sets, $1.8 at 50 sets, $1.2 at 75... etc... etc.

But seeing as we don't even have 25 sets ordered yet; I would worry more about ordering more sets ;).

The colours just look washed out, if they were as vivid as the layout mock up in the OP then I would be all over it. As it stands they look too pale, they don't look like miami vice colours.

This GB will miss the point of the "Miami Vice" theme because not enough people will buy the add-ons.
Unless you add more keys to the add-on set, it could fall below the number to include it in the GB.

An ISO and Tsangan sets will have to be considered, making this a more complicated GB that's already have a bit of difficulty reaching 50 as is.

Unless you add more keys to the add-on set, it could fall below the number to include it in the GB.

An ISO and Tsangan sets will have to be considered, making this a more complicated GB that's already have a bit of difficulty reaching 50 as is.

yeah, but he did say that he can't really afford it... so its sort-of a safe assumtion to say that he also can't afford to waste it lol... and its not so much that I think RM would loose it, more just damage it.. I know they are small plastic caps, but I've had things shipped via RM and they have arrived damaged or broken and with caps being small they could come out of the packaging etc etc...

anyways just my thoughts :P

I lost my aversion to pink because of STi.  STi's made me realize just how badass tasteful use of the color pink can be.  I was even upset when Subaru changed the USDM STi logo from pink to red in 2006 to try and sell more STi's to homophobic American men who are bought into the big media brainwash that always portrays pink as a girly/fruity color.  

That being said, I really don't have the funds for these right now and am trying to convince myself not to put in a last minute order... but maybe I should buy a set since I can always resell them... lol decisions decisions...
