I had a question about the Pac-Man kit, though...I thought that it was going to have some keys that just have the little Pac-Dots (pellets) on them, but I don't even see those as an option. The reason I ask is that it seems rather out of place given that it's supposed to replace the number row...I mean, it would look pretty weird to have 2 or 3 Pac-Men on the row, plus 2 of every ghost...amirite? Any chance of being able to make the Pac-Dot keys an optional buy? Or perhaps offer a set that has 7 of those instead of 7 duplicates of existing keys in the set?

Well it should look like an actual pacman game going on. Pac man on the back space, some dots, a couple of ghosts here and there in between the dots, and the cherry (remove the pacman facing the other way).

Just two blue dots centered on the key. Replace all the key doubles with the "2-dots" key. Maybe we need a Power Pill instead of the reverse Pac Man?

As long as the dots from the backspace line up with the other dots, that set is going to look super sick!

Just one thing that's still a bit ehhh for me. Four ghosts + 1 deep blue ghost = 5 ghosts in total. Not 100% a pacman game :P but that's just me being picky.

The forum was rolled back to a previous backup, so anything that was posted, PMed in the last 4 or so days were wiped.

Since orders are now closed, the form has been closed. If you ordered via the form (regardless of the roll back), your order would have been received. The form is not apart of the geekhack forums! However, if you sent any PMs in regards to order changes, those may have been lost.
I'll even recode the mess of a site geekhack has become without using vBulletin.
It's not vBulletin that's the problem, it's the server hardware that geekhack is running on! Which, apparently is all being fixed :)

Calm down bebuxe :). Changdrew will sort it out. He doesn't stay awake 24/7. He told me that he will work on the invoices throughout this weekend and things will be smooth again. Should you receive no invoice via paypal or PM when the weekend is over, then message him. Everyone is already jittery as it is with the rollbacks of GH, no need to stress more.

It sounds excellent, I don't mind paying a bit more for missing a GB, I really don't. But some people are selling "left overs" for way way way more than you if you'd bought in the GB (I've seen up to a 700% markup).
Send me a PM if you do have an extra set (I'd love to get both sets or at least the first and a couple keys from the second like the Cutie Mark Crusaders). BTW that post made my day (one for the hopes of a MLP key cap set and two because there are still people in GH that aren't only out for profit but want to help the community)

I think this generally only happens when the keys get to like 41c each. People just normally sell single keys between $3-4, kind of regardless of how much they were bought for. The mark up on these probably wouldn't be too outrageous ;)

It was the so called second coming of the order thread way back when. Changdrew kept the orders open for a bit longer for some reason. I don't think there will be another group buy, but I am sure there will be people that are going to be selling their extras.

Credit card users can file a dispute with their credit card company. For some it may not be 60 days yet. Even if it has, you can still try to file a dispute and see what they say. For the record, Chase has resolved a disputed transaction past the 60-day period for me in the past without any issue.

I really hope it hasn't come to this. But I will be filling a dispute with my credit card company. We'll see how it goes.
Edit: They didn't seem to worry about the time frame for both the original GB in March and the most recent one in May. I'll be getting two letters in the next 40 days with the second for me to fill out and sign confirming I did not receive my items.

Someone contacted imsto offline and he said changdrew didn't order anything from him.
I called Paypal. We are all pass the 45-day period. Paypal can't do anything at this point... unless you dispute the transaction with your credit card company or your bank (if you paid with direct transfer from your bank). I asked would then my bank reverse the payment from PP or the seller? He said PP. So that implies that if my bank/credit card company reserves the payment, PP will then go after the seller. They just wouldn't do it automatically after 45 days.
So go call your bank or your credit card company to reverse the charges. All of you, do it now!

Amazing how in just two days the tone has transitioned from him being a good guy and trustworthy to everyone disputing their charges, someone going to his house to "talk" to him, and taking him to court.
I don't blame you though, if I had ordered more than just a few keycaps I'd be really pissed myself. I'm just surprised it took this long. As it is, I care more about the principle of being ripped off than the small amount of money lost.

I can understand if he can't fulfill the commitment. That is fine, but at the very least, he need to responds to inquiries, email, and refund the money. By ignoring us and not refunding the money, no matter what excuses he has, he has decided to just keep the money. And all we can do is to dispute the charges.

Once all of this is all sorted out, I will run a group buy for these keys myself. That really pisses me off, and I'd like to remind everyone that just because it appears we have a thief, does not mean you can't trust other legitimate members of this community.

Well, making dispute later with my back (its my monday) . I am making a CMS for group buys to prevent this from happening. So much so, at the least two verified users need to be in the Group Buy, if one of them goes MIA. And it will make it easier to review your invoices, and have the money on an account that payees can see. and how the transactions where done.
I just need to pick the best Merchant. I might pick Cybersource. Unless everyone really wants paypal.

I prefer to do them myself, I run them my way without having to discuss/collaborate with anyone, and as such my group buys are the simplest, fastest, and most organized there are... so no I'm not interested in that, everyone knows by now that I'm no thief.

I concur, but we need ways to prevent this. And I am not saying it will be a requirement, only does that choose to use the CMS. And yes, you can make these as a one verified user purchaser. But in the case a person goes MIA, another can take place. MODs will have the firsts test at it.
One of the kool features will be polling and image uploads. But for the moment, these are thoughts. I think I will make a thread later. Need to head home.

If I recall correctly, his feedback score was 17. Is it completely unreasonable to think he worked on building up his feedback score in preparation for a big scam group buy (the first Taobao one)? Then when he saw how long he can hold onto people's money without any serious complaining, he decided to run a second group buy. He left the order and payment window open way past schedule to make sure he got as much money in as possible.
I'm pretty sure that even if someone is not over 45 days with PayPal, both his PayPal and associated bank account have no money in them.

Figured I would update you guys with what's been happening with my own attempts to dispute the charge. PayPal auto-closed my dispute because I was well outside the 45-day window (I paid on 5/15). I called my bank to see what my options were. One thing they clarified for me is that it's 60 days from the statement cut date that would include the transaction. I don't know if that's the same for everyone, but if it's the same for your bank, then it'll give you a few extra days to get your dispute in. They looked into the options for this, and unfortunately they could not dispute the charge directly. Technically, since the draft from my bank account to PayPal was authorized, then the only option for me to do was to fill out papers alleging that the PayPal draft was not authorized. They advised me that if I filled out that form, then PayPal will probably come after me for the money. I decided to do it anyway, because at least then PayPal will have to talk to me, which they won't even do right now because it's past their 45-day limit. They agreed with my logic, so I filled out the form and faxed it in. We'll see what happens.
Hopefully I can convince PayPal to open a dispute despite the time difference and go after this guy. Oh, a tip for anyone else in the same boat, if you talk to PayPal, I would recommend avoiding terms like "group buy", "pre-purchase", or anything else that suggests this was a payment for goods he did not have in-hand. They seem to look down on those things, so it would probably just be best to stick to "I paid for a product, he kept promising it was on it's way but stalled saying there were shipping problems or other things which is why it went past the 45-day limit." Then hopefully they'll do something for us.

We know that already, but did he even approach imsto? If not, we can be sure this is intended scam. If not it might still be scamming by accident or on a whim, but the former is much worse.

Just to let you guys know what the bank said to me. They basically said that they can definitely dispute it and that the bank is generally very good about these things. He said since I paid via direct debt I'll have to pop into my local branch and they'll be able to do it for me no problems.
I'm not sure what PayPal will do afterwards, but it does sound like the bank has no problems handling it.

Everyone should be receiving their refunds right now from Changdrew. He just arrived back home about an hour ago from a family emergency in China. He had no access to internet there, so he was unable to communicate with anyone and tell them where he was or what he was doing. He knows he screwed up bad and feels really really bad about it. Of course nothing can make up for the fact that he has prolonged the group buy and didn't even go through with it. Taobao orders were packaged way before this emergency happened, and he planned on shipping them but was unable to. He will ship out the packages as soon as possible.
Now that this fiasco and done and over with.. I assume Rag will take over and redo it the way it should be done. :)

Just a word of caution in the mix here. During the first tour of my Cherry switch tester we were sure for weeks that one guy had just walked off with it. I figured everyone was fine with these being a different profile since that's pretty much the only way to get them. I'm still working on how to get more detailed images to come out nice at SP... kinda critical if I'm going to be offering SC2 spell keys with my next keyset gb.

That said, a simple phone call to a friend or SOMEONE on here or DT who could let us know what was going on would have been appreciated.
For those of you on your high horse about being patient and not filing disputes with Paypal or whatever, just climb on down, fellows. We were ALL very patient with Changdrew during the group buy phase and beyond; so much so, in fact, that the dispute period with Paypal had lapsed for almost every single one of us. The ONLY reason you got your refunds is because the majority of us raised some kind of hell with either Paypal or our card issuer or bank.

@Zehkul, much appreciated for the pics, makes mine and imsto's life a lot easier. I still have to ask him how he gets such clear images and what program/printing setup he's using since SP does it in a way that certain images get really grainy if you scale them down. That's currently what is holding up the SC2 keysets I have planned- needs more clarity!
SP profile does fit all the other keysets we have though, so I'd really like to use that if possible. There are so many custom sets that use it now that most of us have SP keys on one board or another.

As in Adobe Postscript? SP uses Illustrator and I've been having a hell of a time making more complicated images look good with it.

Yes.
And Illustrator is pdf, with additional metadata. So much so, you can rename you .ai files to .pdf, and still view them on most pdf readers.
The reason you got bad images, is because of pdf rastering to the printer that must retranslate the work to PS (with the firmware work arounds). Seriously, for good printing, use PS.

well if he's moving a lot of $$ around, or if he's in the middle of a few disputes, paypal's gonna flag his account.
Unless he upgrades his account to a corporate account, lots of traffic/$$ moving in the account will flag paypal's attention

FYI, if paypal doesn't refund you within a week or two (as in, changdrew refunded you but paypal hasn't released the funds) contact them.

Bebuxe I downloaded all of the images and almost all of them are the low res renderings of what the keycaps should look like. They are not the source files I need to send to imsto to actually print them. Not that they are not useful or appreciated, they are just simply not everything I need- just what I'll be posting in the thread.
I currently have high res images of all the pokemon and ponies keys, and several others. They are bigger than those you provided but some of them could certainly be bigger still if we want them to look really good. The smallest images were the adventure time, pac man and TNMT ones. Did those actually have a lot of interest or can we skip those this round in favor of getting it done sooner. I have no idea what they actually are and whether they were actually going to be done or not.

I received my refund a while ago, so this doesn't directly pertain to me, but...
Kellybear, as you seem to have the only contact with Changdrew at this time, I think you need to relay some information to him. He really needs to come here and post an update himself, as to where he stands with the refunds, his PayPal account, etc. If he cannot be bothered to actually show up here and respond to the people who sent him money in good faith for goods they never received, I firmly believe interested parties might just decide to seek legal action in his state of residence. Lawsuits may be filed in small claims court, for the amount of actual damages plus legal representation and filing fees. If the respondent in such a case fails to appear before the court, a default judgement can be entered by the presiding judge of the court for any or all of the above monies, which will remain the responsibility of the respondent to pay to the petitioner, regardless of any bankruptcy filings, etc. The court can attach liens to any real property owned by the respondent to satisfy the judgment, or it can garnish wages of the respondent until the judgement is satisfied.
This is a real-world, worst-case type scenario. Instead of owing, say $100 to each person, he could end up owing maybe $1000 to each petitioner in a legal case.
Worse than that, if the state were to bring charges of fraud againt him, he could face fines or prison time or both, if found guilty.
I'm not implying that any of this is likely to happen, I just think he needs to evaluate his position, and account for his actions. If he is not able to pay the refunds because of PayPal locking his funds, he needs to come here and make that clear, while providing some evidence of it. Simply stating, "PayPal sucks," does not provide anyone any assurances that he didn't just make off with their money, while blaming PayPal for his own inability to pay the refunds owed to his customers.
I think most of the people who have not received refunds would simply like a sincere apology, along with an estimate of when, if ever, they might expect to receive their refunds.

I have tried to talk him into coming back to the forums and posting information himself, because only getting updates from me isn't satisfactory (especially since he doesn't keep his word with things he tells, i.e. saying he's going to ship taobao stuff when he hasn't). He kind of just brushes it off, saying that he'll think about coming back after everything is sorted, but it doesn't seem like things have been exactly ideal. I don't know -what- is keeping him from doing what he needs to do, but obviously all of this is a low priority to him if he hasn't gotten things done yet. I've copied what you said, jdcarpe, and I hope it motivates him to come back and get things done.

Kellybear, updates from you are much appreciated, but you shouldn't have to be the middleman for all this. Just tell him to get his act together and do what he is suppose to do. Or man up and come give everyone updates himself. According to the last update, he should have no more problems with paypal, so everyone should either be refunded already or (for the taoboa GB) all items shipped. I doubt everyone got their refunds, and all toaboa orders were shipped. I still haven't gotten either.
