Looking for something similar or insight as to when EliteKB will have stock. The only other new boards I've seen are Decks, but they are full size and full price.
-
i believe the leopold clears were "limited"? in which case, it probably wont be stocked again.
i would think that this is more so the case esp. bc of their new 700r line up. (or was it 500r. i dont remember. but whatever it is..)
-
Thanks. It looks like I'll have to keep an eye on WASD and Deck for the time being. TKL would be nice though.

I'm in Korea until the 8th and will probably pick up a fc700 if they receive stock of the models that I want. If that happens, I'll be glad to sell you my Leopold TKL in clears.
-
I'll keep that in mind. Let me know if you get the new board and maybe we can work something out.
I don't think I've seen a review of that board here. Do you want to post one? The clear cherry specs. look good to me, but I haven't tried them.
-
WASD is planning on a limited run of clears boards at the end of the year.
Is this going to be before or after they start making a TKL model? I've been thinking about getting a board with Clears, and if WASD makes their tenkeyless board with them I'll have to buy one
-
Most people don't like clears. Be prepared to flip whatever you get. That said, you can't have mine.
-
If I don't like them I'll just ergo-clear them
-
^ What he said.
I'll have to say that I'm a little dissapointed in the browns. They are VERY light and the tactile bump is almost imperceptible. So, I figured I would go to the other end of the Cherry spectrum and give clears a try. Plus, it will be a little fun just trying to get a hold of some.

Give it some time. I felt the same way about the browns when I first got them, but it's only because you're probably used to a really noticeable tactile bump on rubber domes or scissor switches. The more you use them the more you realize that strong resistance/a very noticeable bump (like on... say, a logitech illuminated keyboard) is really unnecessary and just induces fatigue when typing.

I had the same reaction with topres. You need about a week to start appreciating the keys.
-
you could get a KBC Poker in clears
-
I was just reading the KBC kit thread here: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?30924-Poker-DIY-kit-EXCLUSIVELY-AVAILABLE-AT-GEEKHACK-!-!-!
I didn't know you could get them with clears. Will definitely google that one unless you already know a good source. Thanks.
-
you have to source the switches yourself
-
That's what I thought. I might just have to start a little DIY project.
Donor boards or directly from Cherry? I've looked for donor boards but they are hard to find (in my case.)
-
You can buy switches from electronics supply companies, but they tend to get expensive in quantities suitable for one or two keyboards. Donor is probably best bet.
-
WASD is the best place to buy switches imo
-
Newark = $1.14 a pop.
WASD = no "Clears" that I saw.
Donor board is looking better, but I've had trouble finding one.
-
unfortunately i think 7bit is out of clears. you might have to wait until there's another switch GB.
-
...and the waiting game begins...
-
the problem is that there isn't a high demand for clears (it's basically just us) and a lot of that demand got sucked out of the market in the last switch GB. unless wasd or shaker wants to front the MOQ money and hope demand builds up again by the time the order is filled, you're probably just going to have to wait.
-
there isn't a high demand for clears
That seems to be the consensus. I have a pretty heavy typing style and that's why there is interest here. Just don't forget this thread if you hear anything, and thanks for the help.
-
Mouser for $.93 each at 50 MOQ for PCB mount clears. Only 300 in stock atm tho.

Is it black? Otaku? What kind of keycaps? How used?
The Otaku I have now has great keycaps compared to other boards I have. I've read they are PBT, but I can't confirm that on elitekeyboards' site.
-
I think the only one that was pure English that was in stock was a black one with black switches. All of the 700 series use PBT keys.
-
I'll guess I'll post something over in classifieds if I want to pursue this. Thanks.
