Just got my Das Professional S in the mail today, and during the 6 days while it was shipping, I was wondering what it would be like, and I am typing on it now, and all I can say is wow. This is an incredible improvement. Love it! My wallet better watch out though, I am already wondering what Reds would be like.....

If you stick around here long enough you won't need your wallet anymore! We all say this as a joke but it's quite true...
Glad you like your mechanical though. Just as a note reds are my *favorite switch :).

Yeah, been looking around here for quite a while before taking the plunge, and I am glad I did. Also, I didn't buy a keypuller, do you have any reccomendations for what to use in place of one? Bent paperclip? Is there a wiki somewhere? Tried pulling one of the function keys off with just my fingers (with some wiggling), but I wasn't feeling it coming off. Do I just need to pull harder? Thanks for reading this..

Definitely get a key puller if you can. It's worth it!

I would suggest this (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?10915-key-pullers) thread. Also, on behalf of the Moderation Team of Geekhack, I would like to welcome you! Unfortunately, Fstop's joke is quite true... Though it is fun, to me at least...

I think the wire pullers are much easier and safer than the plastic ones, especially on some boards that have *really* tight spacing between keys.
Even pullers bent out of paper clips, which are quite serviceable, cheap, and available in one minute, have thicker wires than the "store-bought" kind.

Thanks all, looks like I will be making another purchase already.....
Looking forward to experiencing more KB's over time, loving my Das already, it's incredible how bad my serviceable (or so I thought) rubber dome keyboard feels now.
Also, my family is making comments about it :D

wlcm2gh, keycaps are just as expensive as keyboards and I'm not even talking about ClickClacks.
-
Imsto's thick dye-subs cost more than keyboards, and so do topre keysets.
-
One more question, does anyone know of a carrying case other than the razer and thermaltake ones?
Sent from a box of cereal

Topre keycap set = 100$, which is just under the third of the price of the KB itself.
You can get decend Cherry keycap sets for like 40$ (from WASD for instance).
But a good set of keycaps will cost more than that, because you will be looking at different materials (such as PBT or POM instead of ABS)

Next step now will be trying out a topre board :) How long will you last before going for a topre ?

Well, seeing as I will be on my school newspaper next year, and will be doing a lot of typing at school, I may be getting a HHKB for that. Although, I think that I am just going to go with a Poker X with MX Reds, and an aluminum case, cause it will fit in the HHKB case from EK. I don't think I am quite ready to drop over $200 on an individual keyboard. Soon.........
