Title: New Filco Keyboard Has Wrong O Key
Post by: BigBadWolfie on Fri, 11 May 2012, 21:10:37
I just received my Filco Majestouch-2 tenkeyless keyboard from amazon and found that the O key is a Q key. I'm kind of bummed out about it. Do you think it was a QC problem or the keyboard was somehow used and someone swapped their Q key for the O key? I'm thinking it's a QC problem.

I assume my only option is to return the keyboard for another one. Sucks.

Your only option is to start loading up on DS keycaps from every GB you can find!  ;-P

I can type without looking at the keyboard so it isn't a problem per se but I'm not one to pay that type of money for some flaw that should not be there and can be avoided.

I would be happy to upload a pic but I'm not well versed with free pic hosting sites.

Been over a year and the only 2 letters on my stock filco keys that have faded are M and L. There's a few that are half gone (C, N, K, O, S).

tinypic.com is quick and easy, but so is just attaching it to your post.

How can I attach an image? When I click "insert image" it asks for a url link.

Edit: I spoke to amazon and they are willing to give me a $15 refund. I'm tempted. Should I do this? I guess having the wrong O key might affect the keyboard's resale value but I'm unlikely to sell and the letters probably will get worn out with use? Still, it kind of sucks not having everything perfect.

I would take the $15. You may well find a key later.

I may have a used ABS one that I would sell cheap, but it will be beige and may not have the right profile.

I'd take the refund and put it toward a set of replacement caps. You'd want to replace it eventually due to wear.

I would take that refund! You'll be getting a Filco for a really good price after that refund.

WOAH, don't do anything yet!  PM me a pic, I may be willing to trade you for that "defect", if it is real.  I can trade you an entire Filco keyboard, or just the keycaps, or w/e.  But I need to see it first.

It's just a keycap, which is easily replaced. I'm sure if you contacted Keyboard Co (assuming that's who you bought from) they can send you an O.

Why is everyone around here always looking for another "O" to fill that empty space?  ;-P

No one seems to appreciate a good pun anymore.
